Last weekend we received the exciting news from Durham Region Public Health that after an assessment of sport facilities such as the Pickering Soccer Centre we are now allowed to operate programs with no more than 10 players per field – as opposed to the initial limit of 10 in the entire dome! Team staff are additional to the 10 players. We want to thank Dr Kyle, Durham Region Health’s Medical Officer for signing off on Sec. 22 Class Order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act to all individuals who own or operate indoor soccer/sports domes. This came into effect at midnight on February 28th and shortly afterward we were able to share the revised schedules with Head Coaches and staff.

The Club continues to be vigilant with both health unit and soccer specific requirements including:
  • Mask wearing throughout the session
  • Hand sanitization on entry and exit to the dome
  • Temperature checks on entry
  • Distinct corridors for entry/exit from the field and
  • Staggered arrival and departures.

We will continue to communicate regularly through family emails, website and social media. This chart shows you the share of messaging across the big three social platforms so please follow us.

We also compare pretty well when we take into account our activity compared with that of the nine Clubs/Academies in close proximity to us where we claimed almost 25% of the activity over the same period (March 2020 - February2021). All of this has been done because we truly value your support and human connection is important.
Our hashtag game has also been busy in the past year. We’d like to remind you of how you can find us and share your stories about us and what we’re up to:

#destinationclub expresses our purpose to be the focal point for players and families that really care about a good quality soccer experience in a world class facility.

#PFCProud is our chance to shout about the achievements of players, coaches and administrators both present and past from All Abilities to League1 Ontario, and from the pitch to the board room.

#WestDurham reflects our programs that serve the City of Pickering and new neighbourhood of New Seaton, as well as our friends outside the City boundary.

Please feel free to use these hashtags in your posts about us and make sure to follow us for daily updates on Club activity.

Here are the program specific updates for the week ahead:
COMPETITIVE & HIGH PERFORMANCE
  • Returned to the field for training twice a week.
  • Under the current Red Zone restrictions this is limited to 10 players per session, plus coaching staff, per quarter field.
  • Any missed field sessions will be made up during the break between Indoor and Outdoor (usually April to mid May).
  • We calculated a pro-rated amount per week that was shared during our September 2020 webinars for every level of play and that will be assessed in late April. At that point we will know exactly how much of our program has not been delivered and this will be refunded to the payee’s credit card.

Training Days and Times will be confirmed by your Head Coach for the weeks ahead.
RECREATIONAL
With the start of registration for the 2021 Outdoor Recreational Season the Pickering FC is also starting the recruitment of volunteer coaches for the season.  Coaches will be needed for teams in all divisions, U3 to U18, and candidates can be parents, high school students, university students and anyone else who has a love for the game and would like to be involved for 2 to 4 hours a week from May to September. High school students can earn Community Volunteer hours by being a coach and it is a great way to add to your resume and grow your network.
