Mentoring Program kicks off 2019 school year with historic freshmen cohort
College Now was proud to host 900 incoming freshman college students, mentors, and community partners at our annual Mentoring Program Kick-Off on Tuesday, August 6th, at the Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland. This exciting event is the first meeting between our freshman college students and the mentors who will be working with them through the course of their college careers. This year, our College Now scholarship recipients were joined by Say Yes scholarship recipients and their mentors, which made the event nearly twice as large as in past years!
Over 400 mentor-student pairs met in person for the first time at the event, as we inaugurated the beginning of the school year for our new college freshman class. Attendees heard from College Now CEO Lee Friedman, College Now Board Chair Mark Ross, and CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Eric Gordon, and one of his mentees, Brinden. Eric and Brinden shared their insights on the importance of the Mentoring Program and even participated in some ice breakers while on stage!
College Now is proud to continue our 51 years of work in supporting students with this historic Kick-Off and this historic academic year! To read more about the Kick-Off,
