Reading The New Testament In 2017

For those of you reading through the New Testament with us this year, we hope that you are finding this journey as rewarding as we are.  Everyday get excited to see what God will show and bring to your life in His Word.  On Friday, December 1st, we will be on Revelation, chapter 2.  If you haven't started yet, just jump right in and join us.  We do five chapters a week, Monday through Friday.  If you haven't involved your children, we encourage you to do so.  You can even set up a journal and keep an account of what God is revealing to you as you make your way through the scriptures.  If you happen to get lost or don't know where to start, each week we post in our congregational notes that we hand out on Sunday morning a list of chapters to read for the week.

Each year, we are blessed beyond measure to be able to give so many of our neighbors in need all of the fixings for a wonderful Christmas Dinner. If you and your family would like to be a part of this special time of giving out these baskets please   CLICK HERE to register.

  Iron Sharpens Iron

This year's Men's retreat will be held Friday, January 26 - Saturday, January 27 at the Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Landon Dowden.

Landon is lead pastor of The Church at Trace Crossing in Tupelo, Mississippi. He and his wife Tara have four children. Leading and shepherding his family is a great priority to Landon, as is making disciples through preaching, mentoring, biblical counseling, and through living life together in the power of the Gospel. In addition, Landon is a regular featured guest speaker at youth retreats and camps as well as other adult conferences.

Some of Landon's hidden talents are humming and beatboxing simultaneously, rapping part of Psalm 23 in Hebrew nonetheless. He is also a national record holder for Jump Rope for Heart, and still being able to remember the "cheat code" to Contra on Ninendo.

-The cost is $105 for Men and $60 for Students 7-12th grade. This includes all meals & lodging. When you register there is a $20 per person, non refundable deposit.
-Bring toiletries, a Bible and casual clothes (jeans/t-shirts).

This will be an opportunity for parents to have a date night or maybe do some Christmas shopping. We will start at 6:00pm and need all children be picked up by 10:00pm.

We are asking for parents to bring one pack of cookies and to make a donation toward Fuge Camp scholarships. This will be a fundraising event to support our student ministry by being able to take our students to camp at the lowest cost possible.

Tree House Kids

Merry Christmas, Treehouse Parents!

This month our Treehouse Kids will have the opportunity to participate in the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.  We will be having missional moments in the Hideout and there will be a collection container in the Hideout and Child Check In Lobby the first three Sundays in December.  It is a wonderful time to nurture missional hearts.

There will be two Family Worship experiences in the Worship Center on December 24th and 31st.  They will make Christmas even sweeter.

December In the Treehouse will focus on Jesus!!   Resources are attached to help you make the most of this special time of year.  We are praying for your families to have a month completely immersed in the joy, hope and peace that the birth of Jesus brings.

Thankful for your families!

Sharon

There are over 2.8 billion people who have never heard the hope of the gospel. But together through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, we can harness every dollar possible to reach them.

The International Mission Board has partnered with Southern Baptists to send over 3,500 missionaries into global cities and hard-to-access places all over the world. Compelled by the urgent spiritual need, they go to places only reached on foot, by boat, or on horseback.

As we partner together, we take hope to corners of the globe that have never heard the name of Jesus. 100% of gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering fund IMB missionaries who are making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached people and places. In the last year reported:

-1.9 million heard the gospel
-175,290 new believers
-15,058 trained pastors
-6,138 new churches

Our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering this year for the Heritage family is $10,000. You can give anytime between November 26-December 21. Look for the special Lottie Moon envelopes in the back of the chairs on Sunday mornings to make sure your gift is designated properly.  We will announce our offering total during the Christmas Eve Service on December 24. It will be an exciting time!

Work As Worship

God has a purpose for us on this earth. That calling is to be on mission for God where He has placed us. And since many people spend the majority of their waking hours on the job, we have to stop compartmentalizing life into "spiritual activities" and "work activities." How are we living examples of the gospel while we work?

You're invited to the 2017 Work as Worship Retreat, where eleven influential business leaders and pastors will discuss what it looks like to connect faith and work. Taking place as a 1-Day at HCC, in the Worship Center on February 23, 2018, the live event in Dallas will be web-streamed to over 2,000 churches around the world. This live simulcast will begin at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm, lunch is provided.

Join Patrick Lencioni (Author, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team), Joel Manby (CEO, SeaWorld), Phil Vischer (Creator, VeggieTales and Jellyfish Labs), Wendy Davidson (President, US Specialty Channels Kellogg Company), Matt Chandler (Lead Pastor, The Village Church), and others in a day filled with real-life stories, biblical teaching, and practical wisdom that will equip believers in the marketplace to see their work as an opportunity to care for their families, fulfill their calling, and bring glory to God.

31 Days of Prayer

God invites us - welcomes us - into the high privilege of talking and working with Him. Beginning December 31st we will begin an incredible adventure on how to enjoy personal communication with the Father. To go along with this series, we will spend the month of January using 31 Days of Prayer to walk us through a new awareness of the Lord's delightful presence. These books will be available beginning December 17th at Guest Central in the church lobby.

Pastor Sidney Brock

Growing Spiritually

With the commercialization of Christmas, It is important as the Body of Christ to pause and reflect on the impact of Jesus's birth in our personal lives as well as the culture around us.   Join us on Sunday mornings for our newest series entitled, "Tis the Season" as we focus on: Thankfulness, Love, Peace, Hope and Joy.

As I reflect back on the month of November, and this past year, I am reminded of how much we have to be thankful for.  Psalms 105:1  "Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon HIS name; make known HIS deeds among the peoples!"  At this time of year, when it is easy to be burdened by our busy schedules as well as " have to's " let us be reminded of the " get to's ".  It is important that we pause and give thanks to the Lord, because we have so much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas from the Brock's.
