This year has been an interesting one for philanthropists and social impact investors. We have seen increases in micro-finance and crowdfunding, bringing this type of giving to all-time high; new giving models and a movement away from simple cheque writing are starting to become more mainstream in family philanthropy; and the ongoing growth of OpenImpact and other platforms like ScotiaBank's iTRADE to support impact investors in aligning their wealth strategies with their social objectives.
Thanks to the generosity of the Lake Family Foundation, we recently gave a workshop in Victoria entitled To Gift a Goat: The Holiday Dilemma. Part of this workshop included an opportunity for participants to consider questions that will shape their personal and their family's legacy. Here is a list of some of the Legacy Questions that were reflected upon. This holiday season, we encourage you to start exploring some of these questions and of course, "there's an app for that!"
