Alessandra, an MSW Candidate from CSUN who majored in Film Production at USC, combined her film and grief support skills in a recent
outreach video made to inspire young people to join groups at OUR HOUSE.
With the direction of Lauren Schneider, Alessandra created a video that removes the stigma of a grief group being "too hard."
As a Field Intern at OUR HOUSE, Alessandra will have conducted nine support groups in LAUSD, KIPP and Animo schools across Los Angeles. She has fundraised $2,000 for
Run For Hope and will be volunteering at
Camp Erin-LA in June. "
Being an intern has taught me how to hold space for people's grief and has shown me how communities in underserved areas respond to death. It has also helped me create meaning from my own grief after experiencing my father's death."
