November 5, 2017
From our Principal

DIS Parents,

A huge thank you to Mrs. Adkins and all the parents who volunteered to help out with our Halloween Party! It was evident the students had a great time playing games and spending time with friends. We had some amazing costumes as well! We also really appreciate Mrs. Jordanger and our parent volunteers who helped out with "Fall Fest!" It was a great way to start the second quarter!

As November begins, bringing cooler temperatures, please remember to send a winter coat to school with your child for recess. Students go outside daily, unless the temperature drops below 20 degrees.

You should have received a flyer attached to your child's report card describing the student materials fee. These fees are collected once per school year. You may send the $20 student fee in via cash, or a check made payable to the Westlake Board of Education.

Join Bassett Elementary for a birthday party celebrating 50 years of learning!  Come enjoy party games and birthday cake Friday, November 10 th from 6:00-7:30 PM.  An open house for former students and staff will be held from 5:30-6:00. Please click here to RSVP.

Finally, DIS conferences are just around the corner with two available evening dates (November 16, & 20) and one full day (November 21). Next week you will receive a link that will allow you to view the conference schedule and sign up to meet with teachers. More details to follow!

From our PTA President

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween.   Can you believe it's already NOVEMBER!  Don't forget Sunday, November 5th at 2AM to turn your clocks back and get an extra hour of sleep!  I can't wait!

THANKS to ALL of the volunteers that made the Quarterly Rewards kick-off a success!  The kids had a great time and the weather was super!  The t-shirt painting craft did NOT go as well as planned, but, with every mistake there is a lesson learned.  I learned that I need to be more efficient when reading directions.   We will revisit the t-shirt craft again...stay tuned!

Teacher conferences are November 16th-21st.   PTA will be hosting dinners for DIS Staff on Thursday, November 16th and Monday, November 20th.  Please click on the SignUp Genius  for information on how you  can help out.

Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 9th 7PM at DIS in the Library.  Hope we see you there!

Best,
Diane
