The Tiger's Roar!
Tildenville Elementary School, Winter Garden, FL
"A National Magnet School of Distinction"
Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019

On behalf of the administration and staff at Tildenville Elementary School, a warm and friendly welcome to our school for the 2019-2020 school year! We have great momentum behind us this year having just earned an 'A' grade from the Florida Department of Education.

Tildenville Elementary School remains committed to our overall mission in cultivating a collaborative community of students, parents, and teachers to ensure all can learn and grow into creative well-rounded individuals. This dedication and commitment shared by all staff, parents, and community helps make Tildenville the amazing school it is and will continue to be from year to year. So please join us as we provide an extraordinary learning experience for your child.

As for this issue, you will find a great deal of helpful information relevant to the first month of the school year. Please take care to note anything that may help your household or student remembering that we are here to assist in anyway we can.

Finally, should you see either Mrs. Walker or Mrs. Davis on campus over the coming days (pictured above), please take a moment to congratulate them on their success. The Teacher of the Year award and the Support Person of the Year award are based upon nominations from their peers and they both truly deserve this high praise.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and if you are out and about, please drive safely in the holiday traffic.

In Tiger Pride,

Agathe Alvarez
Proud Principal

SHOUT OUTS!!

Good Afternoon Ms. Alvarez,

I just wanted to send you an email giving a "shout out" to Mr. Dolfi. He has been so kind and helpful as I've made the transition over to Tildenville Elementary. Even though I am not a new teacher, the school and some of the procedures are new to me. He has been available and helped me with tech issues, fire drill procedures, and many other questions I've had in the last few days. I am very thankful to have him as my "hallway neighbor!"

Sincerely,

Amy Cheesebrew

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to write you all a message to let you know about an experience that Penny had yesterday, on her first day of middle school at SunRidge. She was in band class and after class started a teacher came in a with a new student and asked if anyone in the class spoke Spanish. Penny raised her hand and the teacher, asked if she spoke Spanish or Portuguese. Penny said, she speaks Spanish, and this teacher starts drilling her in Spanish to see if she actually knows it. Penny told me if she had been that teacher, she would have been doubting her too! Once it was confirmed that Penny knew enough Spanish, this teacher assigned her to assist this new student, who just moved here from Venezuela and did not know English, during the class. Penny told her she had helped another friend, also from Venezuela, last year!

I was so happy this happened for some many reasons: 1) she was confident enough in her Spanish abilities to say she could speak it; 2) she didn't even flinch when the teacher was testing her abilities; and 3) most importantly she is able to use this skill she learned to help another student.

Situations like this are exactly why I wanted my children to learn a second language!

Each of you has had a hand in her not only learning Spanish, but becoming confident in her ability to speak it, and I just wanted to share this with you and say THANK YOU!!!! The program at Tildenville is so amazing, people are always impressed when they hear my girls speak and I always tell them that it is ALL DUE to their wonderful teachers, none of this comes from home! It's just such a blessing to me to have seen all the hard work come to fruition for her.

I hope you all have a great year!!!!

Julie
