PQA Approves New Strategic Plan,
Broadening Focus on Measure Implementation, Development, and Research
Alexandria, VA (November 27, 2017) -  The Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) Board of Directors revised and approved a new, three-year strategic plan to reflect the organization's priorities, strengthen its core capabilities, and broaden its efforts in measure implementation, development, and research.

"The PQA team, together with the leadership of the PQA Board, is prepared to implement this plan in the marketplace. Our unique position as a transparent, multi-stakeholder, consensus-based organization affords us a diverse set of perspectives and the expertise of individuals from over 225 organizations that contribute to our role in the evolving, value-based healthcare system," PQA CEO Laura Cranston stated. "This strategic plan preserves the most enduring elements of our organizations while infusing a start-up mindset and innovative agility into our current partnerships and future endeavors."

The new strategic plan embeds strong commitments to the PQA membership to developing cutting-edge medication-related metrics that matter to patients, payors, and providers; implementing those metrics in the marketplace; and ensuring that PQA conducts meaningful research that demonstrates the impact of our measures on patient outcomes.

A PQA All-Member Call will be held on Tuesday, December 12th from 1pm - 2pm EST to present the highlights of the new plan. The plan (click to view) delineates the objectives, goals, actions, and key performance measures in six strategic domains of the organization; measure development, endorsement, and maintenance; measure implementation and use; research; membership engagement and education; communications; and finance and operations.

In addition, the PQA Board of Directors approved a revised mission statement for the Alliance.   PQA's mission is: Optimizing health by advancing the quality of medication use.

PQA's Associate Director of Member Engagement, Loren Kirk, PharmD, said, "We recognize that organizations join PQA for varying purposes, including the opportunity to shape and inform measure development, position measures for implementation at a state and national level, partner with PQA on research and education initiatives, and pursue other areas for collaborations to improve the quality of medication use. The new strategic plan expands on PQA's current scope of activities and opportunities  while broadly encompassing the prospective direction of the organization and its purpose in the healthcare quality landscape."
