To kick off Polar Express week, 2nd grade students and teachers will be allowed to wear pajamas all day! Please remember that pajamas need to be appropriate and have your child wear regular school shoes, please -- no slippers.
FREE DRESS DOWN DAY
Wednesday, November 29th

Park Maitland students brought in over 5,000 food items, a record-breaking number, to give to local families during this holiday season!  Because of the amazing generosity from our Park Maitland School family, students have earned a free dress down day on Wednesday, November 29th!

(Due to the K-5 Green Meadows field trip, K-5 students should wear field trip attire on this date. K-5 will have a dress down day on another date.)

Park Maitland Annual Toy Drive
School-wide Collection
December 1 - 20

Toys collected will go to the Toys For Tots organization which distributes to local children in Central Florida.

December 1st through December 20th
Bring in new, unwrapped, unopened toys for Orlando area children. Look for the collection bins during morning carpool.

The homeroom that collects the most toys will receive the Blitzen Wall Mount to display in their class and a munchkin party!

If we collect over 1,500 items, the whole school gets a dress down day on January 10th!

Book Fair & Holiday Shop
December 11th - 15th


The Book Fair and Penguin Patch Holiday Shop are coming to Park Maitland the week of December 11th! Students will have an opportunity to visit at scheduled times during the week so as to not interrupt their academic classes. Envelopes will go home the week of December 4th.
 
The book fair will be will be open Mon. - Thur. from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to visit the store at any time during the open hours. Contact Ms. Talbert at  ctalbert@parkmaitland.org  if you have questions.

The Holiday Shop will be open Mon. - Thur. from 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Contact Ms. Sonntag by email at  jsonntag@parkmaitland.org  for Holiday Shop volunteer opportunities.
 
We ask that parents send money for the Book Fair and Holiday Shop in the provided envelopes and clearly mark your child's name, grade, and class. This is MOST important! Envelopes can be returned to your child's homeroom class.
 
Because students will visit the Holiday Shop and Book Fair during the same period, we are asking that you indicate if leftover money can be spent or should be returned home.
Calling all siblings of Park Maitland students!

If you have a child going into K-4 next school year : Our K-4 Screening Fun Day will take place on January 13 th , 2018 from 9:30 to 11:15 am. Students will spend the morning doing fun activities on campus, from art to story time to hands-on tinkering, while parents attend a brief and Information session. Teachers and administrators will be screening these applicants individually throughout the morning. 

If you have a child entering K-5 - Grade 6 Students applying to K-5 to Grade 6 are required to attend a shadow day. Your child will be paired with a current Park Maitland student who will act as their buddy throughout the whole day. Shadowing students will also meet with an administrator during their shadow day in order to complete their admissions   screening.

Winter Break Information

Wednesday, Dec. 20th is an early dismissal day for students and is the last school day of 2017! 
Regular lunch arrangements should be made for this day, but the dismissal schedule has been adjusted to accommodate an early dismissal.
*Please note: There is no "Club Eagle" AfterCare today!

All students will be dismissed after they have had lunch according to the following schedule:

K-4, Grades 1, 3, and 5 -- 11:25 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Gate opens at 11:25 a.m. -- closes at 12:00 p.m.

K-5, Grades 2, 4, and 6 -- 12:13 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Gate opens at 12:13 p.m. -- closes at 12:45 p.m.

If you have a lunch "A" child that needs to go home after lunch "B," please send in a note
to that effect. We will have supervision in the gym for those children.

Holiday Parties
K-4 parties will be on Tuesday, Dec. 19th.
K-5 - Grade 6 parties will be on Wednesday, Dec. 20th.

Parties will be held prior to lunch. Those parents who have signed up to volunteer will receive instructions for parking and to pick-up their preprinted name tags for the event. If you wear your pre-printed
name tag, you will not need to check in at the front office but may go directly to the party room!
Parking will be limited so please try to carpool!

Be the Change...Wear the Change
"Wear the Change" is a fundraising campaign to help raise money for Puerto Rico. Even one month after hurricane Maria there are still about one million Americans there without water. We want to give the whole school a chance to get involved and “Be the Change.” Use the order form linked below to order your necklace and help us reach our goal. Fill out the order form and send in $7.00 for each necklace you wish to purchase. You can turn in your order form to your homeroom teacher or to the front office.

*Each necklace is hand stamped "united."

Come join Ms. Ballard, Ms. Rios, and some other surprise guests and celebrate New Year's Eve -- - kid style!
Open to all students, K-4 - grade 6.
Party from 6pm Saturday, December 31st to 10am Sunday, January 1, 2018.

It's the best night of the year!!!

The Hour of Code is Back! 

The Tech Team is excited to announce that we are hosting our third annual Hour of Code event here at Park Maitland School! 

The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. The Hour of Code has become a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.

This coding experience is offered to our 3rd-6th graders. The voluntary and FREE sessions will take place on either:

Monday, December 4th or 
Tuesday, December 5th
3:30 - 4:30pm

Students in 3rd grade will be offered complimentary child care in Parker's Gang until the 3:30pm event begins.

Filmmaking Workshop
Cartoons are fun to watch,   but have   you ever wanted to make your own? Have you ever wanted to bring your toys to life?   You   ca with the magic of film!Stop-Motion Animation lets you be   in control of every frame of your movie without ever  having to draw a thing. In this workshop, you’ll be animating posable figures on a green screen background into fun scenes. You will edit   your movie to perfection by keying in the backdrop of our choice and adding   titles, credits, transitions, and music in iMovie.
