Dear Parents,

Today is All Souls' Day. While All Saints' Day is a day that Catholics remember those who have already entered heaven, All Souls' Day is a day to pray for all loved ones and for those who have died. In particular, Catholics remember the souls of those who are caught in purgatory, undergoing a process of purification before entering Heaven. Let us pray for all the souls that are in purgatory and are in need of God's grace to help bring their souls to Heaven.

Quote from  Francis:

"The Saints have found the secret to authentic happiness, which lies deep within the soul and has its source in the love of God."

We are all called to be Saints and to live as Jesus did. A Saint is a person recognized by the Church as being holy because of the way he or she lived. A person  who is good, kind, patient, and that has all the virtues that are true examples of the Fruits of the Spirit . We strive to be saint like so that we can have true happiness in Heaven some day with our Lord. As we live each day, let us remember  that it is not the big things that we do but the little things along the the way each day that bring us closer to living saint like lives.

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Walkathon Update!

Thank you to everyone for making the Walk-A-Thon a huge success. It was an awesome day full of fun, laughs, music, and great memories. We started the afternoon with prayer and the breaking through of the banners by grade levels.
After our walking route, we ended the afternoon with a well deserved treat from Rita's Ice and some extra time outside on a  beautiful  Fall day.

As of today we have raised approximately $15,000 and donations are still coming in the mail daily.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. We are grateful
to all the parents that came to walk and volunteered their time to support us on this special day and for all the donations made to SCSS from your extended families and friends. We are very blessed!

Tardiness :

I have noticed an increase in the number of students who are late for school this year. If a student comes to school once the prayer bell has rung at 7:45 am they are considered tardy. The procedure is to stop at the nurse for a tardy slip before going to class.

Please note the first period class bell is directly after prayer at 7:50 am!

Reminder:

As a reminder, classrooms are not accessible after 3 pm. The after school personnel will  not be available to bring your child to their classrooms because they can not leave the after school children unsupervised. It is a general rule of the school that no student can go into a classroom unattended.

Nurse News From Mrs. Hogan

Now that the colder weather has arrived, please have your children wear coats, hats, gloves etc...to school. These items are needed for outdoor recess. Keeping the children warm and healthy is our goal! Thank you for your cooperation.

Trunk or Treat Pictures:

It was raining, it was pouring, but our
Trunk or Treat was soaring!

The rain did not stop us from Trunk or Treating! The sound of our school children laughing and walking with each other through the Family Center was a wonderful sight to see. The decorations were so bright and creative. We are very grateful for the
amount of support from our school parents and families that were sharing in this fun and excitement despite the weather.
It was amazing.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Trunk or Treat a success even in the rain!
