President's Letter

We have had some great progress in Advocating for the Early Childhood Educators in the past month. If you have a special relationship with your State Legislator, please contact WFCCA ([email protected]) for a letter that was created to invite all of the WI Legislators to our January 6th meeting. The purpose of our time together will be to inform them of how the state funding affects the Early Childhood programs. More legislators that attend could mean more success!
Have you been to any of our mini conferences yet? I did some training at the Madison's mini conference on Oct. 14th that was hosted by Dane County Satellite and at the Green Bay's mini conference on December 2nd. It was nice meeting some new members, and reconnecting with some seasoned ones as well. The networking that takes place is amazing. The small group lets us really get some great work done and contour the training to meet the needs of our participants. Hopefully, I'll get to meet YOU soon! Check out our website (www.wisconsinfamilychildcare.org) for more mini conferences that are going on around our state.
Are you aware that all of our WFCCA board members are all volunteers? We are always looking for more providers to be more involved in the Wisconsin Family Child Care Association. The friendships that are built in our group is something to be a part of... consider joining us! We will be having elections in May, so contact us or be on the lookout for more information around March.
I hope that you have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones. Enjoy, be merry, and take some much needed time off to relax or do something special for yourself. See you in 2018!

WFCCA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

I am Patti Robinson. I own Precious Few Child Care in Wilmot, WI. I've been in the early childhood profession for over 35 years. I am a Family child care business owner and an Executive Leader of the KARE chapter of WECA, in southeast WI.
The first quarter of a century, I worked in a very large accredited center that cared and educated more than 400 children. I worked my way up the organization as a teacher's aide, teacher, preschool director, Program Administrator, and Staff Training Coordinator.
When that center went out of business, I started my own family child care business. I believed in my heart, that family child care was only a stepping stone to go back to center based care. That one day I would buy land, build a state of the art facility and create a quality large child care center. But as fate would have it, after a few years in family child care, I came to realize; I have always been family child care! Concentrating on providing the best care and education for children, and working hand in hand with families.
So here I stay - never intending to retire, but to just make my perfect working schedule, from a job and profession that I still love.
One of the best things I did when I made the transition to family child care was join the WFCCA. I have attended their annual conference for the past 13 years. What I love the best about their conference is I have the opportunity to attend trainings specifically for the business aspect; which other EC conferences do not focus on. Being a member of the WFCCA has given me the chance to connect with other EC professionals from around the state, who share the same passion for quality child care as I do.
