COMING 2018
First Floor Remodel
January 2018
Beginning in January 2018, the library goes under construction as the first floor gets an updated look. The remodel will create a new entrance and welcoming lobby area, consolidate Circulation's workspace, reconfigure the large public meeting rooms, update the public restrooms, and add two new features: a drive-up window and a cafĂ©.  The project is estimated to take approximately five months and the library plans to remain open to the public during this time.
SWAN Migration
May 2018
The library is joining SWAN (System Wide Automated Network)! This means we'll be part of a larger library consortium in northern Illinois, expanding the library catalog to 729% of the materials currently available, and your library card will work at any of the consortium's 97 locations. For a full list of the SWAN member libraries, check out  www.swanlibraries.net/member-libraries

Did You Know: "Auld Lang Syne"
"Auld Lang Syne" is traditionally sung to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight and comes from an old Scottish folk song. The version we know today originated from the ballad "Old Long Syne" printed in 1711, and additional lyrics were composed (or collected) in Robert Burns's 1788 poem. Auld lang syne translates to "old long since" and actually means "times gone by."
PRESCHOOL FAIR SURVEY

The Glen Ellyn Public Library is conducting a survey regarding our Preschool Fair! For the past three years, the library has held a Preschool Fair in November. The community can learn about the variety of preschool programs available in Glen Ellyn, talk with representatives from the different schools, and take home information about curriculum and enrollment.  If you've attended the Preschool Fair before, we'd love your feedback. Please take a few minutes to share your input and comments.  Just click the link below to begin.
