Weekend Lineup
Turkey trot on over to Seaton, Moravia, Praha & New Taiton

Have a houseful of kin comin' in? No fear; don't cry in your beer. Load 'em in the car, there's polka fun near and far! (Yeah, I didn't do too well in the poetry section of English class :-)

Start the turkey party tonight with the Praha Brothers at Sefcik Hall in Seaton for the annual pre-Thanksgiving dance. Spend Thursday eating, watching football, arguing politics. Go shopping on Black Friday. Then push the reset button on Saturday and help the Czechaholics celebrate their 15th anniversary at the Moravia Store. You'll be able to purchase their new CD! Also in the Polka Belt, the Incredible Music Makers will play at the annual Wayne Hunt Memorial Scholarship Dinner/Dance in Praha. Gets my vote for best value - for only $9 you get a dance AND 3-piece fried chicken dinner. Winner! Winner! Plus it's for a good cause. On Sunday, head to New Taiton for the annual KULP Polka Fest with the Red Ravens and all-star jam. It's not too late to get added to the polkabeat VIP list. Reply to this email if you wanna go and I'll make sure you're on the list.

Of course, this holiday weekend is also a good time to visit seasonal attractions like Santa's Wonderland in College Station, Tex Ren Fest in Plantersville, and Christkindlmrkt in Hallettsville.

Country Sunday: Got some good choices for two-steppin': Detour is at VFW in north Houston...Glen Collins & The Alibis are at VFW in Geronimo...DanceHall Sounds with DJ Allen Pollard is in Robstown...Charles & Fab 4 are in Seaton...Nathan Colt Young is in Sweet Home.

I am very thankful for all of y'all continuing to support polkabeat.com and the Texas Polka News. Let's all pray for peace, love and polka! Polka On, Y'all!

Coming in December: Meet Polish Pete. He crafted a championship polka called the Altuve Polka, and the Astros won the World Series (never thought I'd type those words!). Find out what inspired him, what that victory parade was like, and his polka/baseball story that began in Pittsburgh, PA. Weimar musician, George Jurecka, provides brass reflections on those popular town bands of yesteryear. Michelle Slovak of Czech & Then Some shares Musings from the Road. Justin Everett reviews the Auf Geht's CD and shares some Czech and German Christmas traditions. Find out about the Great Bavarian Christmas Show at Santa's Wonderland. Editor Gary E. McKee recalls some Christmas dances of the past. Mark your calendar for the January Is Polka Month Dance featuring the Dujka Brothers in Schulenburg. It's a fundraiser for the International Polka Association, celebrating its 50th year!

WEEKLY LAUGH
A Thanksgiving Poem:

May your stuffing be tasty,
     And your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
     have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
     and pies take the prize,
          and may your
     Thanksgiving dinner
   stay off your thighs!
