ASPHALT MATERIALS and STRATEGIES
WORKSHOP
Bangkok | Thailand February 13-16, 2018

Effectively Manage and Maintain your Pavements
Better ride quality, safer roads, reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions and longer service life are some of the tangible benefits deriving from proper maintenance techniques and strategies for asphalt pavements.
With this in mind, the IRF is pleased to announce a hands-on workshop designed to providing attendees with world-class guidance on Asphalt & Emulsion Binders, Aggregates, Pavement Condition Surveys, and Asphalt Pavement Maintenance Techniques.

Course Outcomes
  • Learn about the qualities of asphalt and emulsions, where it comes from, how it's produced and how to select the best material for your project.
  • Learn about properly selecting the best local aggregates and what qualities are important to getting good results.
  • Learn about pavement preservation treatments and how to select the best approach based on road conditions.
  • Learn how to design, specify and how to properly place the right treatment for the right road at the right time.
  • Learn about the latest advances in the development of designs, materials, additives and placement techniques.

Previous Course

More than 50 delegates from seven countries attended the Asphalt Strategies & Materials seminar in August 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The course was designed to help road agencies get the most out of their asphalt pavements using state of the art techniques and pavement preservation strategies. The seminar explained the different preservation techniques, when to apply them and the associated cost savings at the different intervention intervals. Participants were also given a strong background on asphalt and emulsions to help them better understand the materials and how to ensure having quality materials at the worksites. "There are many effective strategies out there, and it's up to organizations like the IRF to help disseminate this knowledge around the world", noted Magid Elabyad, IRF Vice President for International Programs.
