Wildlife Handling Course
24 people earn credit in 3-day course for wildlife professionals

For 14 years, Wolf Haven has been the host of a wildlife handling course taught by Dr. Mark Johnson of Global Wildlife Resources. Combining lecture, lab and hands-on examination of critically endangered wolves, the training  emphasis is on humane, respectful capture and treatment of wildlife.

It is an incredible honor to meet and work with the attendees who come from all walks of life and around the world to attend this course. This year's guests included tribal members, wolf specialists from Mexico, USFWS personnel and wildlife capture professionals based in Canada.  Those interested in learning more about the course, which will be offered again in 2018, should contact our Director of Conservation at 360.264.4695 x216 or email Linda Saunders.

These red wolves love their mornings!

Red wolves are critically endangered in the wild (numbers are estimated at <35), so it's a rare treat to see 12 of them playing in their enclosure at Wolf Haven. This family totals 14 wolves, but two opted to enjoy some time away from the pack.

Girl Scout patch -final product

Wolf Haven's partnership with Girl Scouts of Western Washington continues to grow.  Now, when Girl Scouts of any age participate in a Wolf Haven event with their troop, on their own, or with their family, they earn a fun patch.
Original patch design

Designed by Wolf Haven staff members
Pam Maciel and Chris Montero,  the patch represents both wolves and Wolf Haven's home in Washington. We look forward to our continued participation with the Girl Scouts!
