Fundraising Event for the LUM Immigration Clinic

Journey beyond our shores and back by trying tasty delights from around the world and bidding at the market place of items from ports of call in Lafayette and around the world.
In order to celebrate the melting pot that is Greater Lafayette, including the large contingent of international students at Purdue, the Lafayette Urban Ministry
Immigration Clinic is presenting the “
Port of Hope” Fundraiser. Details are as follows:
- NEXT Thursday, November 9
- 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
- Lafayette Brewing Co. in downtown Lafayette
- Tickets: $35 per person
There will be hors d’oeuvres & appetizers from local restaurants, international and American, as well as live entertainment from around the world and a silent auction featuring handmade, global items.

The LUM
Immigration Clinic is located in the LUM Office (420 N 4th Street, Lafayette). The LUM Immigration Clinic helps individuals from other countries, who are legally in the US, to navigate the often difficult and confusing Immigration and Naturalization Service bureaucracy. In 2016, 39 individuals received assistance navigating the Immigration & Naturalization Service process and five obtained citizenship; 40 participated in
Citizenship Classes; & 10 participated in
Spanish Conversation Tables.

Community Thanksgiving Celebration NEEDS
|

Event details are as follows:
- Thanksgiving Day—Thursday, November 23
- Noon to 2 p.m.
- Central Presbyterian Church
- FREE
The FREE meal includes a traditional Thanksgiving feast with turkey, dressing/stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and a variety of pies & desserts.

Cash donations
are preferred because they allow LUM to purchased what is needed, when it’s needed.
Donations of “needed items” are also welcome and appreciated. If you wish to donate items to the LUM

The LUM
Turkey Trot 5K Run
open to runners of all ages and abilities and welcomes runners, walkers, dogs, strollers, wagons, turkey hats and more.
The Turkey Trot 5K convenes at McAllister Park (the former Lafayette Golf Course) — which is completely flat and paved and allows participants to run on a scenic route on a crisp November morning.
It’s a great way to help those in our community in need while celebrating the “Thanksgiving” holiday.
Details are as follows:
- Thanksgiving Day—Thursday, November 23
- 8 a.m.
- McAllister Park, Lafayette
- Registration: $35 Adult; $10 Youth
All proceeds benefit Lafayette Urban Ministry.

The 38
th annual LUM
Jubilee Christmas will host over 800 local families impacting over 1,900 children. The program strengthens low-income families by supporting the important roles of moms and dads — and making the parents the heroes at Christmas. Details are as follows:
- Saturday, December 9
- 30 different sites

Cash donations
are preferred because they allow LUM to purchased what is needed, when it’s needed.
Donations of “needed items” are also welcome and appreciated. Donations of new, unwrapped toys, clothing (0 to 12), and quilts/family blankets are needed. Donations accepted starting Monday, November 27 from 1-5 p.m. at the LUM Office (420 N 4th Street, Lafayette). To view our JC Wish List, click

Grace United Methodist Church Serves LUM

We Are the Church - Service Worship
|
This past Sunday, the members of Grace United Methodist Church participated in a program they call "We Are the Church - Service Worship." After a simple worship, the members volunteered at LUM doing various tasks including cleaning up our grounds and assisting with a bulk mailing.
