Torrance Area Chamber Responds to Members' Requests
One of the areas that I treasure most about my profession is the opportunity provided to visit businesses in our community. I have the ability to see first-hand the incredible manufacturing that is produced, to view the wonderful restaurant and hospitality industry, and to observe the businesses that provide products and services.

In visiting businesses, I also have the opportunity to speak to CEOs, owners and staff about issues that face their business. Over the past year, one of the issues that has continually been brought to my attention is health care, specifically; affordability, access and quality of care.

In listening to these concerns, Craig Leach, President & CEO, Torrance Memorial Medical Center; Lesley Wille, Executive Director, Kaiser Permanente; Mary Kingston, Chief Executive, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers, San Pedro and Torrance; and Jac Folkert, Area Director, Marketing and Community Outreach, UCLA Health met to discuss ways in which they may be able to provide answers or direct the concerns businesses have involving health care.  Read More...

Poll Finds Voters' Concerns at Odds with Political Leaders
Californians are anxious.

The economy is growing, the state budget is balanced and the rains have resumed. Yet California voters are apprehensive about the future. They worry that state leaders are not addressing the issues that truly concern them, according to the third annual CalChamber Poll.

For the first time in three years of polling, slightly more voters say that California is headed down the wrong track (52%) than in the right direction (48%).
