Washington County hosts Development Forum Oct. 26
The fall Development Forum, hosted by Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation, will be 8:30-10 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Washington County Walnut Street Center, 1400 Walnut St., Hillsboro.
Development forums are an opportunity for those in the development and building industries to learn more about Washington County's development-related services, initiatives and processing timelines. They are also an opportunity to network and provide valuable input. Featured topics include:

  • ProjectDox Update and Demonstration
  • An Overview of Permits for Work in the County Right-of-Way

Roberts named LUT assistant director
Stephen Roberts has been named assistant director of Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), effective Oct. 7
"Stephen's expertise and leadership is highly valuable to LUT and to Washington County," said Andrew Singelakis, Director, LUT. "He has been overseeing complex development projects, and he is a key member of the department's Leadership Team."
Roberts' tenure with LUT began in 2007 when he was hired as a senior planner within what is now the Planning and Development Services Division. He was promoted to principal planner in 2010. He became the communications coordinator in the Office of the Director in 2011. In 2014, he was promoted to the special projects coordinator. He has been the interim assistant director since January. Open houses
  • Aloha Tomorrow online open house, in English and Spanish, through Oct. 31. Participants can provide input on concepts for further development in the Aloha Town Center area at 185th Avenue and Tualatin Valley Highway. Potential changes may include improvements to the commercial area at 185th Avenue and TV Highway, transit-related improvements along TV Highway, an alternative design for Alexander Street and land use changes adjacent to Alexander and Shaw streets.   • Roy Rogers Road, 5-7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Scholls Heights Elementary School, 16400 SW Loon Dr. This project will widen Roy Rogers Road between Scholls Ferry Road and 2500 feet south of Bull Mountain Road to five lanes (two travel lanes in each direction and a center turn lane). Media release
  • NE 69th Avenue (formerly 227th Avenue) bridge replacement project, 5-7 p.m. Oct. 18 at Orenco Elementary School, 7050 NW Birch St. This project will replace the NE 69th Avenue bridge located between Quatama and Fir streets. Media release

  • Beef Bend Road, between Peachtree Drive and Coyler Way, for pedestrian path installation, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. through Oct. 31.
  • Brugger Road, between Viola and Ernest streets, for private development by D.R. Horton, Oct. 16-Nov. 4.
  • U.S. 26, between Glencoe Road and mile post 53, for paving highway and ramps, bridge resurfacing, rumble strips and cable median installation by ODOT, 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday-Friday and 8 p.m.-9 a.m. Saturdays through Oct. 31.
