Another Week of Caring
November 20th, 2017 - Volume 15 Issue 24
THANK YOU GEORGETOWN!

For the 7th year in a row The Caring Place was voted to be the Gold Award recipient for the Best Place to Volunteer/Give in Georgetown.  2017 has been an amazing year and we owe that to our incredible volunteers and supporters.   These hands and hearts are truly what makes The Caring Place such a special place.  Thank you for being part of our daily mission to assist our neighbors with basic human needs in Georgetown and rural Williamson County.
What Do We Need in the Food Pantry in November?

Did you know that for every $1 donated to The Caring Place Food Pantry, 3.5 pounds of food can be purchased for families in need?  You can easily make online donations by simply clicking HERE!

2017 Holiday Assistance is Underway
Do you or someone you know need a little extra help during the holidays?  It can be a stressful time with many expenses and we want to help!  Holiday Assistance with Coats for Kids and Holiday Meals began November 13th.  The Caring Place has once again coordinated with WalMart and HEB for gift cards for both coats and holiday meals for those who are eligible.  You do not need to be a client to receive assistance.

To apply for a card, applicants must go to The Caring Place Annex at 2001 Railroad Avenue between November 27th-December 8th, 2017.  The Annex will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Special evening hours are available from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. only on November 30th and December 7th in the Client Services Department at 2000 Railroad Avenue.

Please bring the following information:

  • Picture ID for all adults
  • IDs for all children (birth certificate or other form of ID)
  • Proof of Residence (rental or mortgage papers)
  • Proof of Household 200% level income or Government Benefits (pay check stubs, food stamp letter, social security benefits)

To be approved for Holiday Assistance, you must meet necessary guidelines or prove a crisis.  If eligible you will receive WalMart and HEB gift cards the same day you apply for the program.
Thank You to Our Veterans

The Caring Place would like to thank the many veterans we work with every day for their service.  In honor of both our volunteers and clients we purchased 2 flags at the Rotary Club of Georgetown's Field of Honor in San Gabriel Park this month.  The display ended on November 12th.  We hope you got a chance to see it!

Sweets, Treats & Trees - Another Success!
On November 9th we held our 10th Annual Sweets, Treats & Trees event.  Thank you for attending and supporting The Caring Place.  If you didn't make it, don't worry, we still have plenty of holiday and gift items to last the season.

One of the great things about shopping with us is the merchandise is always changing and you are supporting an important mission when you spend your dollars at The Caring Place.

Just a reminder, we have TWO locations for your shopping needs!

The Shops at the Caring Place  and  Second Helping

What is #ShopSmall?

Saturday, November 25th is "Small Business Saturday", also known by the hashtag on Social Media #ShopSmall.  We'd love for you to choose one of these locations for local shopping!  You'll be supporting a local business and supporting your community at the same time.
How Can I Help The Community?
"What can I do to help my community this season?"  Is that a question you keep asking yourself lately?   It's a season of giving and The Caring Place would love your help in serving this community.  We are still trying to reach our goal of 200,000 pounds of food collected by December 31st.  Also, with our Holiday Assistance Programs in full swing, we still need monetary donations to assist us with our Coats for Kids and Holiday Meals program.   See below for the flyers we've been releasing on Social Media recently for more information on these ideas.  Or, head straight to our website to make a donation.

Occasionally, we find some treasures that sell better in an ebay store.  Shop there too and know your purchases still support The Caring Place!

Love shopping on Amazon?  Use Amazon Smile and, at no additional cost to you, donations are made to The Caring Place.  Just choose The Caring Place as your non-profit
choice.
