Coupling Tzedakah and ritual, two of USC Hillels central program pillars, Challah for Hunger is making a direct social impact on USCs campus and in the greater Los Angeles community by combating hunger. Challah for Hunger brings students together for the mitzvah of baking challah while educating them about food insecurities that exist in our immediate community. Following the baking, Hillel students sell their challah on USC and Hebrew Union College campuses raising money for the Los Angeles food bank and MAZON, a national Jewish response to hunger. Challah for Hunger President, Rachel Kartin explains For me, Fight On doesnt just apply to sports. Its about striving to do more, and thats what this club does. Challah for Hunger is a large, strong community that comes together to help our neighbors and those around us. You can strengthen USC Hillels Challah for Hunger chapter even more by sponsoring a bake during USC Hillels 8 Days of Giving campaign! |
