< http://www.wasecachamber.com/job-match-portal > is new to the region and is designed to bring employers and candidates together in a more efficient manner via a blind-matching correlated skills and interest survey.
It is our hope to get as many displaced employees as possible on this tool and match them with local employers who could benefit from their skills and talents.

MINNESOTA CHAMBER RELEASES ANNUAL BUSINESS BENCHMARKS

Minnesota has the tools to lead the nation in economic growth with our tremendous workforce and innovation strengths, according to the Minnesota Business Benchmarks.  That's the chief takeaway of the third annual report produced by the Minnesota Chamber and our local Chamber Federation partners.

CITY UPDATES
Old TH 14/Elm Avenue Construction Update
It is anticipated that the entire project corridor will be open to through traffic again on or before December 1, 2017.  See attached map for a note about a temporary lane configuration area during the 2017 winter suspension.
BUSINESS RESOURCES

Region Nine - Public Review
The Region Nine's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Annual Performance Report for Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, and Watonwan counties has been developed and is in a 30-day review and comment period.  Region Nine is required to coordinate and develop the CEDS for the region every five years and submit a supplemental annual performance report for subsequent years.  The strategy is designed to be an action-based economic plan to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
HUMAN RESOURCES

Companies Can't Assume Those Over 40 Have Outdated Skill

If the average worker is 42 years old, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, why is it that nearly 3 in 4 tech workers, one survey reveals, are between 20 and 40?   The answer, experts say, is discrimination-despite laws against it. The solution, some suggest, is more diversity.

Maybe You Should Interview Everyone
Do not go into the hiring process looking for what you think you need - someone to fill a shift or do a particular job. Rather, go into it looking for what you really want - someone who will add value, be responsible, accountable, and who is willing to grow. Just by raising your sights and expectations, you'll raise the quality of every new hire across-the-board.
