Dual Language Newsduallanguage
Examples of "Rigor in the Classroom" over recent weeks . . .

Kindergarten:
In science, the students have been studying sounds and energy. In language arts, the letter Tt and clapping out syllables. They are also learning about beginning and ending sounds in a word.

1st Grade:
In Spanish class, we are practicing writing a complete sentence. Students are identifying the verbs, adjectives, and nouns in a sentence. Students are now working on adding commas in sentences.

2nd Grade:
We just started a lesson about identifying certain professions and where these people work (example: teacher and school).  The next lesson is about giving directions and describing where in the community places are located by reading a map.  Each lesson is roughly a week.

3rd Grade:
Our dual language classes continued to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (ended October 15th) by researching Hispanic countries. In Spanish class, they are traveling the world and are now visiting Argentina.

4th Grade:
Students are learning about describing the rooms in a house and phrases for cleaning. Students are also learning about appropriate clothing for various occasions. Students are continuing to practice more complex commands.

5th Grade:
Students have been working with different kinds of sentences and identifying adjectives. They have also been using adjectives to describe themselves and others.
