Devotion
God is Love
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.

LEAP Lutheran Schools Enrollment Shows Increase
For the first time since the LEAP Alliance began tracking K-12 student enrollment several years ago, there has been an increase! This is the combined total student enrollment numbers in grades K-12 for our 19 Great Lakes Bay Region Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod schools. Their enrollment total this fall was 2,466!

Our Great Lakes Bay Region "LEAP schools do not make up an actual "school district." But, if we were a "school district," that district would number more students than all but just a few larger school districts in this area of Michigan. Praise God that the students of our Lutheran schools are learning and growing and meeting Jesus every day. May our God continue to bless the ministries of our wonderful Lutheran schools!

ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION ON THE RISE
Teen anxiety and depression numbers are on the rise, and there's a good chance that you or someone you know has a student struggling with these mental health disorders. Teens today feel constant pressure and are managing more and more with less downtime than ever before. The two articles listed below provide a great deal of perspective on the daily realities of many teenagers.

So, how can you help? Trust your gut if something seems "off." Most teens don't want to worry their parents with another thing, and will not share their struggles for fear of their parents worrying more. Let them know you care for them and are there for them without being angry - and seek out help from a mental health professional.

DUAL ENROLLMENT FOR SECOND SEMESTER
Any student intending on taking a Dual Enrollment course for the second semester should sit down with Mrs. Mueller to make sure all paperwork is complete well in advance of the college deadlines. Dual Enrollment paperwork must be completed by Tuesday, Nov. 21 or student schedules will be changed.

THREE STEPS TO HELP STUDENTS START THEIR CAREERS
"So, what do you want to do with your life?" This question paralyzes students more than any other. They get stumped - not because they don't have any idea - but because they have so many ideas. They often have several visions for their future. Check out this post from Tim Elmore at Growing Leaders for tips to help.

PSAT/NMSQT EXAM
Students who took the PSAT/NMSQT exam can expect their scores released online on Monday, Dec. 11. We will be holding a PSAT RESULTS NIGHT on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7pm to go over score reports and to talk about next steps in the SAT testing process. Some financial strategies will also be discussed in regards to the FAFSA and setting up your personal finances for the coming college costs.

BAY CITY ROTARY CLUB VOCATIONAL DAY
The Bay City Rotary Clubs provide our junior and senior students with a job-shadowing opportunity on Nov. 14. Valley Lutheran has been given a number of slots with various community members and organizations to allow our students to shadow professionals on the job. Check Google Classroom with your student to see the full list of opportunities. Slots are given away first come - first served.

UPCOMING SAT & ACT EXAMS
It is a common trend for students to take the SAT or ACT multiple times before applying to college. Colleges will accept either exam score and will typically take the highest score earned, regardless of the test date. For students applying for next Fall, the December exam is typically the last score they can use for admissions.
