Led by two of the country's foremost experts and advocates on the current state of voting rights, this webinar will touch on the historical context of gaining access to the ballot by African Americans and women. It also will look at the threat to voting rights for Hispanics, college students, and African Americans for the upcoming mid-term elections in 2018 and the presidential election in 2020. Open Enrollment for the ACA is NOW!  

November 1st - December 15th

The open enrollment period for the health insurance marketplace is significantly shorter this year - November 1 to December 15, 2017 (it's normally three months). The Trump Administration has also cut funding for advertising and enrollment assistance. Social workers should share this enrollment information with clients, families, friends and communities to bring awareness to the narrow enrollment window.

NASW and the NASW Foundation are seeking nominations of individuals within the profession and our communities who fully embody social work values and ethics for National Awards. Categories include Social Worker of the Year (exemplifies the best of the profession's values), Lifetime Achievement (demonstrates repeated outstanding achievements throughout the social worker's lifetime career), Public Citizen of the Year (for going above and beyond in the community), Public Elected Official of the Year (for leadership in public policy issues important to the profession), Knee/Wittman Lifetime Achievement (for exemplary contributions in health and mental health practice), Knee/Wittman Outstanding Achievement (for significantly affecting national mental health public policy, professional standards, or program models), and the International Rhoda G. Sarnat Award (for advancing the public image of social work). Submit your nominations by November 8, 2017.
