Executive Director Update

If you are interested in serving on your chapter or state board, please join us at the Leadership Retreat this year. This is for all members not just current board members.
Please register f or the  AIAMI Leadership Retreat and Annual Meeting  in Traverse City, October 12-13th.
All members are welcome to attend.

 
It's not too early to secure your room for the 2018 convention. AIAMI has secured a block of rooms at the Hilton Midtown which is the AIA headquarters hotel. More here about the hotel. If you are interested in reserving a room with the AIAMI block follow this link. You will be asked to enter your information. You are responsible for making your reservation, updating and cancellations. The rate is $389 per night. There are other rooms available on the 2018 convention site here.

Component Updates:
  • AIA Leadership Institute 2017 - Register today! Join us November 16, for a powerful one-day leadership training event for architects. Earn up to 6.25 LU|HSW by participating at one of our five Regional Venue locations. Learn essential leadership skills to take on a larger role in your firm and community. 
  • New product supporting EPs seeking licensure. The AIA is launching a CONFIDENTIAL new product in 2018 and we are seeking registered architects to act as subject matter experts to assist with the development. Dedicated and passionate individuals who can volunteer 15-20 hours can contact the AIA Center for Emerging Professionals for more information.
  • Be sure you're covered. If your component is insured by The Hartford (for fire, premises, P&C, etc.), your policy may soon be cancelled. Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant
 
Deadline
The application deadline for the LeBrun Grant is November 1st by 5:00 pm EST.
If the deadline falls on a weekend, the application must be submitted by 5pm on the following Monday.
 
Award
Single award of $15,000.
 
Purpose
To further the personal and professional development of an architect in early or mid-career through travel. Travel plans should be focused on a selected topic of interest to the individual, rather than a part of a larger humanitarian or institutional endeavor. If appropriate, the winner may be asked to present at the Center for Architecture upon return.
 
Eligibility
Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a professional degree in architecture as well as practicing architects, either licensed or unlicensed. Academics may apply, but must also be practicing architects.

Special Inspectors Workshop  presented by Masonry Institute of Michigan
Special Inspection is the monitoring of the materials and workmanship that are critical to the integrity of the building structure. It is a review of the work of the contractors to assure that the approved plans and specifications are being followed and that relevant codes and ordinances are being observed.
