Dear Saint Rose Families,

This week began a series of Christmas performances at Saint Rose Catholic School.  It started with our four year old preschoolers and their performance in the church.  They did a great job and really got the Christmas spirit moving.  Tomorrow our kindergarten readiness students will have their performance. They were rehearsing in the cafeteria today and they promised me that it will be an outstanding show.  Next week we have the elementary Christmas show and the performances of our band and vocal ensembles.  I am sure that you have already gotten a sneak performance from your son or daughter.  I hope that you are able to attend on of our many performances.

Sincerely,

Bryon Borgelt

Another HUGE THANK YOU is in order!

Today we'd like to thank all the families who donated to our food collection for the Diocese's Catholic Charity, Helping Hands of St. Louis. We were able to deliver almost 600 pounds of food to help build Christmas baskets they distribute around the city.

Because of you, we are able to make Christmas
a little brighter for many!

Class Mass for Kindergarten Students on December 17

The fourth Class Mass will be held on Sunday, December 17 at the 9:00 am Mass .  Families with Kindergarten age children are invited to worship together and to gather for a light reception to socialize in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria) following Mass .  This is a wonderful time to strengthen or create bonds of Christian friendship.  This is open to all parishioners and school families.

Please click here to RSVP with the number who will be attending so that pews can be reserved in the front near the Saint Joseph altar and so that food can be provided.   You can also sign up for your family to bring up the Offertory gifts or to be Greeters before Mass .  Alternatively, you may RSVP with your family name and number of attendees by emailing Anne Brahier at [email protected].

The response to the other Class Masses has been very positive.  The Parish/School Relations Subcommittee hopes that many families from the school and parish will attend on December 17 !

RECYCLING COLLECTION FOR NON-FUNCTIONING CHRISTMAS LIGHT STRANDS AND TATTERED FLAGS

We are three eighth graders at Saint Rose School who are working to put into practice the message of Laudato Si "Care of God's Creation:  Land."   In an effort to reduce the waste in our landfills, we are collecting and will recycle non-functioning Christmas light strands.  The metal inside the strands can be re-used.

We will also collect tattered flags so that they are properly disposed of.   We will be collecting these items from Nov. 26 - Jan. 15 (with the exception of Dec. 23-25).

Items can be placed in a box outside of Door B, the western entrance to the Gym.
Please contribute to loving the earth by recycling these items!  Thank you.

Middle School Annual Ski/Snowboard Trip
Scheduled for February 1, 2018

The annual Saint Rose middle school ski trip is back. The purpose of the trip is to provide our students with the opportunity to try something new, have some fun and bond as middle school students. We will also connect the trip to our science curriculum.

Students will travel by Blue Lakes Bus for this one day trip. We depart from Saint Rose School at 8:00 am and return around 7 pm. Students need to arrive and be on the bus by 7:45 am. We will head to Mad River Mountain. This is a perfect trip for beginners and more advanced skiers. Lessons are offered free of charge and the staff does a nice job of making sure the kids are ready for the mountain.  All students will be provided a lift ticket, rental, lesson, helmet and lunch. Parents may want to send extra money for snacks during the day as well as a quick stop at a fast food spot on the way back to school. Space is limited to 100 students. Payment is due Friday, January 12.

Saint Rose understands that skiing is not an interest that all of students share. Students that do not attend the trip will participate in fun activities at school.

Cost= $70

Junior Achievement at Saint Rose

Dear St. Rose Parents,

My name is, Aaron Skolmowski, a proud father of St. Rose students (past and present).  For several years now, I have worked as a volunteer educator for Junior Achievement (JA) of Northwest OH.  The mission of Junior Achievement is to teach young people about business, money management and the spirit of entrepreneurial thinking.  Teaching different grade levels at various area schools (including St. Rose), I've come to understand and appreciate the value that Junior Achievement offers to the kids.  I am pleased to say that Dr. Borgelt and faculty would like to offer Junior Achievement to the entire school... every class!  "JA in a Day" is a program where many volunteers come to the school on the same day/time for about 4 hours, and teach a class.  The St. Rose JA in a Day will be held on Friday February 23rd, 2018.

We are looking for roughly 25 volunteers to come to the school and teach a class.  Specific content will be prepared/packaged for you, for easy delivery to the students.  Below are the grade levels and corresponding class topics;
