Liz Glynn's sprawling installation - spread across 30,000 square feet - begins with a sequence of three "analog caves" that hearken back to basic sensory experiences. The first cave, TOUCH, contains hanging stalactites and piles of industrial felt. The second structure, SOUND, features listening stations with a turntable, vinyl records, and a cassette player and tapes, playing recordings made without digital processing. The third cave, SMELL, includes a series of hand-formed ceramic vessels based on platonic forms each containing scents linked to philosophical ideas, such as the Epicurean notion that partaking in pleasure leads to well-being.

November is for Giving Thanks
at
The Rookwood
|
Greetings!
Does time speed by when you're busy, having fun, aging or doing too many things? I'm not sure if there is only one answer to the question, but I do have an answer, at least for me. I am
planning on slowing down, committing to live in each moment and appreciate everything and everyone in my life. I have committed to rededicating my early mornings to reading, journalling, practicing gratitude, meditating and reading my affirmations for life. My first public affirmation of gratitude for November is for you! I am so grateful that you have chosen to make The Rookwood Inn your home away from home, to use us as your home base as you go off to explore the Berkshires in every season.
I love November! I love the crisp, crunchy sound of the fallen leaves as I walk Migo around the village. I love the smells of apple cider mulling on the stove. The aromas of apples cooking in pies or baked apples for breakfast make me smile. I love that
we can finally have fires in our fireplaces and enjoy the company of others in the guest parlor. But most of all, I love that November brings with it Thanksgiving and the gathering of family and good friends. If you haven't made plans yet, give us a call. There's always room for Rookwood family.
If you've already planned your Rookwood Getaway for this fall and/or winter, we can't wait to see you. If you haven't made your plans, it isn't too late. We would love to share the wonders of our Berkshires with you in every season!
With hugs and wishes that you have much to be thankful for this season,
Amy
