Artist Nina Woloshukova Scull lived in The Mission Inn when it was a private residence from 1950 through the mid-1970's. During her time in the house, she used the solarium as her art studio where she held painting classes for local Cape May residents.
And she also created her own works of art, including a painting of the veranda with it's original ocean view. This picture entitled "Nina's Villa" was recently tracked down by long-time guest Ken Peterson. After a few phone calls with the owner in Vermont, the painting was returned to The Mission Inn. It is now being refurbished and will soon hang in the dining room for guests to enjoy.
Exactly how the painting ended up in New England is still a mystery, but thanks to Ken's detective work we were able to bring this timeless piece of The Mission Inn history back home where it belongs!
