Q&A with Patterson PT Client Doris Yount
What first brought you to Patterson PT?
I had my knee replaced 3 years ago this December. My doctor gave me a list of physical therapy clinics and I wanted to see one close to my home. I talked to a few friends who recommended Patterson, so I went with it. It just seemed like the right place for me.
What are you up to now?
I am now pretty active. I play bridge, I got back to bowling and I even got back to playing golf. I try to attend as many of my grandchildren’s sporting events that we can get to. I have a golfer, field hockey player, and a lacrosse player. I also have and an almost two-year-old grandchild who I can now take for walks and play blocks with. Recently, I started going back to Patterson and for the gym just to get stronger. Doris put a program together for me that has been working well. I usually try and get in there a couple times a week.
How did Patterson PT help get you to where you are now?
After my knee replacement, they helped me build up the strength in my knee that was replaced so that I could get back to playing golf. Also, by doing the gym now, I have so far avoided having to get my right knee replaced as well, which I am hoping to put off for a few more years. Patterson Physical Therapy has taught me that you can always keep going, and you can do it. They are very good about if I am doing something incorrectly, they will correct it for me. As I get older, we have started to work on balance too, so I feel more comfortable with that.
What is your favorite thing about coming to Patterson PT?
The friendliness of the staff, but also the feeling that all of the clients seem to be there for one purpose: to get better and to get stronger. The staff works very well together. They always say hi and makes jokes while I am using the gym, which makes it much more fun.
