Kyle was referred to us via the senior mobile home park he and his wife live in. Several other members of that mobile home community have already been helped by our program. Kyle's wife was suffering from cancer and was told she only had 3 months to live. She would be arriving home from the hospital in 3 days and and their air conditioner was broken, but we were able to install a new one before she came home. She passed away 2 months later, but Kyle was very happy we were able to make things a little more comfortable for his wife before she passed. Kyle now works with us on helping several neighbors in the park.

When I met Heather she was very concerned about the hot temperatures and how she suffered through it at 84 years old. She once had had a roof mount swamp cooler, but it was so old that it started to leak and cause damage to her little home. She was also the only person in the trailer park without a swamp cooler. I documented that it had been removed and backed it up with a letter from the HVAC tech who removed it. Now Heather can enjoy her golden years, less vulnerable to the hot temperatures with her new swamp cooler. Also, Heather's propane range was not operating correctly and she had to go to the senior center for meals. After we replaced her range and now she can once again enjoy cooking her meals at home! This client is very grateful and it was a pleasure to serve her

In order to find an affordable and appropriate apartment, my husband and I had spent 9 months on intensive search. Finally, we settled down at the current two-bedroom apartment on November 16, 2016. Since then, we barely had made ends meet with our meager income of Social Security benefits and Food Stamps. Unfortunately, on February 14, 2017 my husband was diagnosed as suffering from terminal cancer. Loads of treatments turned out to be hopeless and futile with his death in three and half weeks away. His abrupt death has brought me an unbelievable severe depression that I have been undergoing psychiatric treatments currently. In addition, I have already been having treatments for the illnesses such as: back pain, diabetes, high blood pressure, and insomnia for years. As I am getting older and suffering from the chronic illnesses, my health conditions is getting increasingly frail, vulnerable, and financial hardship dilemma in predictions. Thus, a surge in my upcoming life hardship has stimulated me to make a phone to CAPOC for Utility Assistance program instantly.
The Utility Assistance program has provided me with one of the most important sources of assistance to rely on. The program lights up not only the place where I live but my life when I need a positive and affirming support from CAPOC.
