Advent Wreaths
All are welcome to gather in Board Hall on December 3 rd during the 9am Faith Formation hour to festively welcome in the season of Advent by making fresh Advent wreaths.

This was such a well-received event last year that we have decided to make this an annual tradition here at St. Luke's.

Please contact Rev. Shelley or Beth Myers or the church office for additional information.

Louisville Chamber Choir Christmas Concert at St. Luke's - Saturday, December 9, 7:30pm
The Louisville Chamber Choir will present its annual Christmas concert: Songs of Christmas Night here at St. Luke's on December 9 at 7:30 pm.

The concert is a mixture of familiar carols, traditional tunes, and new compositions performed at the highest level of artistry and audience engagement.

Come hear the Louisville Chamber Choir on December 9 and discover for yourself why this concert is a must see part of your Christmas season.

Tickets will be available at the door.

Advent Lessons & Carols : Dec. 10 at 10am
The lovely service of Advent Lessons and Carols will take the place of the Ministry of the Word on Sunday, December 10, using 5 readings (instead of 9!).  Dr. Robert Bozeman, organist, and Dr. Stephen Mattingly, guitar, will be featured in a special prelude "God is our righteousness" by composer Chris DiBlasio - a beautiful contemplative piece for our Advent journey together.  The choir will sing "The Rune of Hospitality" by Alf Houkom based on a Gaelic poem, with guitar accompaniment and a stunning anthem by South African composer Peter Klatzow "Cover me with the night" based on a Ghanaian prayer.

Looking ahead to Christmas Eve, we'll start at 10:25 pm with abbreviated Christmas Lessons and Carols leading into our Festive Choral Eucharist at 11:00 pm.

Angel Tree
Holiday greetings St. Luke's family! Our parish family will again be providing Christmas gifts for ten children & youth who reside at Uspiritus.

The Angel Tree will be set up in the narthex (closest to Board Hall) on November 18th.  Please prayerfully consider selecting one of the angels from the tree. Please have all gifts back to the church or office by December 10.

This is the third year that we have provided gifts for these special children and youth and the response of our St. Luke's family has been wonderful!

Thank you for helping us to make this an ongoing tradition, and for sharing the light of Christ's love with these special children and youth!

Christmas Memorials
This year we will continue our tradition of decorating the church for Christmas with memorial poinsettias and large wreaths, as well as memorializing loved ones through contributions for special Christmas music. Please indicate if it is in MEMORY of or in THANKSGIVING of someone and list their names clearly.   The deadline to receive all memorials is Sunday, December 10.

Poinsettia Memorials - the cost for poinsettias is $7.80 per plant with the deadline for ordering is Sunday, December 10. Envelopes are at both narthexes.

Wreath Memorials - We will again be hanging large wreaths inside the church on the stone walls between the windows. The cost for each wreath is $90. We hope parishioners will help subsidize this decorating effort by donating for a wreath, or part of one, in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving. The deadline for this memorial is Sunday, December 10. Envelopes are at both narthexes.

Music Memorials - Give to our wonderful music program as God plants in your heart. You may give throughout the year to the music program, but in order to get your memorial in print, the deadline is Sunday, December 10. Envelopes are at both narthexes.

Christmas Pageant!
All children and youth are invited to participate in our annual Christmas pageant, which will take place during the 4:00 family Eucharist on Christmas Eve.

Please contact Rev. Shelley or the church office if you or your child would like to participate in this special celebration!

Family & friends of parishioners are also invited to participate in the pageant!

Reflections Presents an Advent Triple  Play
Saturday, December 9th: Our Last Taize Service of 2017 at 5:30 PM
Becoming a very popular service, please join Reflections for its service of Taize music, meditation and meaningful prayers. In addition, a full communion liturgy will be included. This full candlelight service is such a fitting liturgy for the Advent season.

Saturday, December 16th: An Advent Contemporary
Lessons and Carols Service at 5:30 pm
This year, Reflections will offer a wide variety of songs to go with the readings, ranging from "an African-American spiritual, also known as a "cumulative" song, to beautiful Advent pieces that help prepare us for the Advent season, to favorites including, "Breath of Heaven" and "A Hallelujah Christmas." This year we are especially excited to feature two violinist, Scott Moore and Erica Pisaturo, accompanying Reflections on most of the musical selections.

Sunday, December 24th (Christmas Eve Celtic Service at 6:30)
Always a favorite for Christmas Eve, the 6:30 pm Celtic Christmas service will feature Ms. Chelsea Balmer on harp, with additional accompaniment by violinists, Scott Moore and Erica Pisaturo. This year, Christmas Eve preludes will be presented separately, by Scott Moore and Erica Pisaturo...and Chelsea. In addition to music from the Glendalough Mass, the celtic beat will always be present in both the various anthems as well as the traditional Christmas Carols sung with the congregation.
