Our Perspective
Spotlight: It's the happiest season of all!

The holidays are here! If you're like us, Christmas music is on and cookie platters are covering the work break room. We are embracing the spirit. We're also looking back over the past year, and not to ring our own jingle bells, but our announcement numbers for 2017 are pretty impressive thanks to the strength of Augusta County companies. Over the past 300+ days, we've seen:

Investment: $79.9M
Jobs: 206

Those numbers have imbued our local economy with strength going into 2018. As economic developers, we've been given the gift of working with local companies who strive for growth. We are always looking for ways to grow ourselves as practitioners to fully support these efforts. The Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA), a member organization, works to provide educational opportunities and as a longtime member of VEDA, I truly believe in its mission.

In January 2018, I will begin a five-year term on the Executive Committee and will first serve as Secretary. As someone who has gained a great deal of knowledge from meeting with fellow Virginia economic developers, I encourage anyone involved in economic development to consider joining VEDA.

In the meantime, happy holidays! We wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It's time to hit the trail!
Shenandoah Beerwerks launches passport program

Shenandoah Beerwerks officially launches a new passport program starting today. After picking up your passport at one of our 14 breweries or four Visitor Centers, participants must collect at least six brewery stamps and then mail in the completed form to receive a Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail t-shirt. Better get started, because there are some cool prizes for those quick enough to submit their completed passports.
