Help Needed for an Exchange Student at Lee High School: The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) has a student attending Lee High School from Germany.  His host family is no longer able to host and he will need a host family for the remainder of the year, starting at the beginning of January.  He is a very good student and has good grades.  He has played the piano for 10 and enjoys playing.  Also, the student likes sports very much—especially basketball and soccer.  He has his own spending money and health insurance. For information about hosting please contact local coordinator, Cindy Miller, at chmiller@rockbridge.net or (540) 817-8851 .

Women's Bible Study: Wednesday, January 10, 2018:  Ladies, consider joining us at 11:00 a.m. in the Foster Room. We will discuss the book 40 Days of Decrease by Alicia Chole.  It is suggested that one reads the first seven days for discussion on Jan. 10. If you have questions, please contact Carrie Tucker at 540.230.0787 or ctucker59@gmail.com

Liturgical Calendars: Calendars showing the liturgical colors and saint days are available in the office for $5 each.

St. Nicholas Day Appeal: As we enter into Advent, one of the holiest seasons of the Christian year, our diocese’s annual St. Nicholas Day Appeal is one significant way that we can adjust our focus to the mission that the Son of God ushers into our world. This year the donations made will be given to help those areas that were devastated by this year’s hurricanes, with particular focus given to Puerto Rico, through the work of Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD). Please consider faithfully how you might support these ministries, either using the envelopes at the end of each pew or by donating online at www.dioswva.org . It is a charitable love for the neighbor that is honored in St. Nicholas, and this annual appeal allows us to share with others in this season of giving. Peace, The Rt. REv. Mark Allen Bourlakas

We need $485 more to reach our $1000 goal for Gift Cards for the Christmas Eve Outreach Dinner: Envelopes are provided at the back of the church. Please place the envelope in the collection plate or drop by the office. Money collected purchases gifts for all the children in attendance as well as gift cards for the adults. (Indicate on your check memo that this contribution is for “Outreach Gift Cards”)

Offering envelopes (for those who have chosen to pledge) are available in the back of the Church. Consider picking up and delivering another member’s box for them with a Christmas visit!

Sundays at 5 presents the Playing of the Merry Organ Concert - December 31 at 5 p.m.: The Playing of the Merry Organ concert has evolved into a Christmas tradition for many in our parish and the surrounding community. This year’s concert will feature Staunton native Benjamin Fairfield on trumpet, accompanied by Virginia Bolena. Ben is currently located in central Texas and is in demand throughout the country as a performing artist. Ben and Virginia will play familiar carol arrangements and accompany the audience in the singing of several beloved carols. This year’s concert falls on New Year’s Eve…a perfect start to your New Year’s celebrations!

Holiday Office Closing: The office will be closed Monday, December 25 - Monday, January 1.

Ordination of The Rev. Anne Grizzle: All are welcome to celebrate with Anne as she is ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests on January 6, 2018, at 11:00am, here at Trinity. A reception will follow.

Plentiful Juice Containers: The Altar Guild thanks you for your generous donations of juice containers for flower deliveries. We are now well well-stocked! Please return to recycling your containers.

Next Tribune Newsletter in February: Because of the busy holiday season, we will not produce a January Tribune . If you have any short announcements that you would then like to have run in the January bulletins, please email Deidre at communications@trinitystaunton.org .
