3 Takeaways from Ohio Supreme Court Ruling in Lawsuit Over Injuries Caused by Dancer

On September 6, 2017, the Ohio Supreme Court decided in the case of Johnson v. Montgomery (Case No. 2017-Ohio-7445), that under Ohio's Dram Shop Act (O.R.C. 4399.18), someone injured by an "intoxicated person" may sue a liquor permit-holder for an off premises injury - but only will prevail when the permit-holder or its employee knows the person they serve to be intoxicated or under age. New Statute of Limitations Takes Effect for Ohio Workers Comp Injury and Death Claims

Effective September 29, 2017, the statute of limitations for an Ohio workers compensation injury claim or death claim has been reduced to one year, instead of the prior two-year statute of limitations. Read more here

L'Italien Joins Board of Leadership Columbiana County
SHAWNA L'ITALIEN  has been elected to a two-year term on the board of trustees of Leadership Columbiana County. The organization provides classroom and hands-on experience to build leadership capabilities.  

Rogers Elected to Counseling Center Board
KELLIE ROGERS  has been elected to a three-year term on the Counseling Center of Columbiana County board. The Counseling Center provides mental health and substance abuse assessment, counseling, treatment, rehabilitation and education for children and adults. Shawna  L'Italien will be leaving the board after 12 years of service.   

Lawyers, Families Support Panerathon in Youngstown
HHM lawyers and their families were among the 11,000 walkers and runners who participated in the Panerathon in downtown Youngstown in August. The firm was pleased to be a medallion sponsor of the event, which is organized by Covelli Enterprises and has raised more than $2 million to support the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
