She comes to Oklahoma from Colorado, and she brings an expertise in reporting on health issues. You'll be hearing from her often as she and Joe Wertz continue building on the excellent coverage StateImpact offers. Welcome, Jackie!

'Best' Storytelling, Turkey Triage on Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day on KGOU is full of holiday cheer, with a couple of special programs. At 9 a.m. we'll broadcast Third Coast's Best of the Best, an annual storytelling festival and competition, with 11 winning stories that will intrigue, inform and inspire. Then at 11 a.m., dynamic duo Lynne Rossetto Kasper and Francis Lam provide some last-minute advice to save your turkey dinner from disaster -- or at least minimize the cook's embarrassment -- with The Splendid Table's annual Turkey Confidential.


Sunday Radio Matinee: 'Hearing Voices' of Native Americans

On this Thanksgiving weekend, Hearing Voices presents an encore episode featuring leaders of several First Nations. NPR's Alex Chadwick rides into the Bitterroot Mountains with Natives and Forest Service workers. Paddle the Pacific Coast with the Canoe Nations of the Northwest. And native poets Henry Real Bird, Joy Harjo, John Trudell and Keith Secola sing us the stories of their homes and ancestors. It's KGOU's Sunday Radio Matinee at 12 p.m. on Nov. 26.

As NPR Music celebrates its 10th anniversary, music editors are looking back at its first decade year by year. It was born in 2007, as technology was changing how we bought, sold, carried, listened to, and understood music; some of the developments that were seen as revolutionary in the moment almost feel quaint today. In this retrospective, editors have picked the songs, albums, events, trends, and happenings that linger in their minds, and draw them back in time.

To kick off the Christmas season in style, Canterbury Voices will perform Goosens' arrangement of Handel's masterpiece, Messiah! on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Civic Center Music Hall. Canterbury singers will be joined by members of the OKC Philharmonic in this grandiose production. We'll be giving away a pair of tickets in a drawing next week -- enter for your chance to win!

National Theatre Live presents Amadeus
Lucian Msamati (Game of Thrones) takes the role of Salieri in Peter Shaffer's iconic play about the life and times of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This encore presentation by National Theatre Live is pre-recorded at London's West End and rebroadcast via satellite cinema onto the big screen at OCCC's Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater on Sunday, Dec. 10. We've got tickets to give away -- enter our drawing for a chance to win a pair.
