The DAAD Young Ambassadors Workshop 2017 took place in New York City from August 16 – 19, 2017. Twenty-three students from all over the U.S. as well as six students from Canada participated in the three-day training sessions in New York City.

According to Times Higher Education, applications by German students for scholarships to study in the US have dropped by a fifth since Donald Trump became president. DAAD USA director Dr. Nina Lemmens sheds some light on why this may be and if US universities need to start worrying.

If you've visited Germany, you may have noticed some strange, thrown-together huts and allotments when passing by the outskirts of a city or looking outside the window on a train. These are actually small gardens which have been firmly rooted in German culture since 1864. Originally gardens of the poor, they have become a staple of German culture.

Have you ever congratulated a German two days before their birthday? If so, the angry stares will make sure you never do so again.
In Germany, it is considered bad luck to congratulate a person before their actual birthday. Always wait till midnight, and then try again.
