Culver City Schools Celebrate
International Walk to School Day
On Wednesday, October 4, Culver City Unified School District joined schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day, walking and rolling to school along with parents, teachers and community leaders.

Walk to School Day raised awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasized the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The event was organized by Culver City Walk & Rollers as part of the city-wide Safe Routes to School Program.

CCHS Students Earn National Merit Recognition
Congratulations to the following Culver City High School students who have been recognized by the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program with a Letter of Commendation: Laura Vlahakis, Richard Zhou, Mason Acevedo, Sidonie Horn, Sterre N. Hesseling, Esabel Musselman, Mikael G. Nida and Jasper C. Merlis.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National; Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," said a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource. Recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue pursuit of academic success."

AVPA Students Featured at Tomorrow's
Culver City Art Walk
The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Visual Art Department from Culver City High School is rapidly preparing for the Culver City Art Walk 2017 as students organize artwork to be exhibited for the entire city tomorrow - Saturday, October 7.  The City of Culver City in association with The Culver City Arts District has generously provided AVPA visual artists with an exhibition space open from 2 to 6 p.m. located at 8558 Washington Boulevard .

This year’s exhibition titled, “WANTED,” stems from the need for young artists to feel like their artistic ideas are taken seriously and wanting to be heard.
