"Persevere with passion. Lead with kindness."
November 1, 2017

Dear Sweeny Families,

We just want to take this time to thank you for your continued support of Sweeny Elementary. This past month we embarked on our first service learning project of the year and we were able to send 400 items to Lake Country Elementary in Florida. What a blessing it was to provide for another Leader in Me school. Thank you for providing food and school supplies for Lake Country students.

Also, we want to thank you for taking time to come in and meet with your child's teacher during conferences this week. We have loved visiting with you as you have been in the building. We hope that as you left your child's conference you felt even more confident in our partnership with your child's success as a leader and learner.

Our goal as a team is to be the best that we can possibly be here at Sweeny. If you have not yet had an opportunity to provide feedback as to how we are doing, please take time to do so on the annual patron survey here

Parent/Teacher Conferences

When: November 2nd
Where: Your child's classroom

Please join us for our last night of Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 2nd. Your child's teacher will be in contact with you so you can sign-up for time that works best for you. At Sweeny, we believe that the partnership between the parents and teacher is crucial to the success of our students. Our goal this year is to have 100% of our Sweeny families attend a Parent/Teacher conference.

Veteran's Day Assembly

We would like to invite you to our Veteran's Day Assembly to help honor all the brave men and women who have fought for our freedoms. Please see the image above for information on how to help celebrate our Sweeny Veterans on a Wall of Fame!

Parent Survey

Republic School District invites parents and guardians of our students to complete the short  survey found at the link below. Your feedback allows us to see at what level we are meeting the needs of our students, families and community at large. Preparing each student for a successful future is our mission, and the information gathered through this  survey provides us a measure to see how well we are achieving this goal.

The  survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open  until November 3. Thank you in advance!

Begin with the End in Mind

I n October students learned about Habit 2, Begin with the End in Mind. This habit means to think about how you would like something to turn out before you get started. We also refer to this as carrying your own weather. Someone who thinks with the end in mind says, "I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom. I can make a difference and contribute to the vision and goals of my school and in my classroom. I look for ways to be a good citizen."

At home, you can discuss with your students how they can begin with the end in mind at school and at home.
