NOVEMBER 2017

A message from the President & Founder, Lauren Genkinger

In a few days, we start our annual "end of year" giving campaign.  This year we are so Excited!  We have a donor who has established a matching fund up to $30,000.  This means for the first $30,000 we get, it will be doubled.  Your donation of $500 means AGA gets $1,000, so this is the year to give to AGA because your donation   doubles! Yippee!

This is the year we are going to raise $100,000.  That may be an ambitious goal but this matching fund makes it realistic.  Please think of AGA this year for your tax deductible donation.  Keep the receipt you get when you make the donation but we are happy to send you a letter for your tax records.  The campaign will start the day after Thanksgiving, which is closer than you think, but as a golden told me recently "squirrel away some dollars for AGA".  I assure you that your donation will be used for the care of orphans before they go to their new homes.  Thank you for making AGA possible.  With us, it's also all about completing families.  We are proud that we have completed nearly 4,000 families since we started our rescue.  That's really amazing, if I do say so myself, in less than 15 years.

As the giving season starts, save a little for us because we will make it go Twice as far.

ORPHAN OF THE MONTH
Jellybean

Hi Atlanta! I'm Jellybean . I came to AGA all the way from Turkey to find a new home. Being only 2 years and on my own, I realized things were different in America. My trainer said I was missing out because I was too jumpy. (Guess they should have called me JUMPING BEAN!) My trainer, foster mom and all the great folks at AGA helped me learn to settle down, sit, stay and walk on a leash. I learned great house manners and enjoyed being the center of attention, but the chipmunks and cats I remembered from Turkey kept teasing me to chase after them. Old habits die hard! My new foster said I am fine with another easy-going dog, kids 6 and up, a fence and a family that wants all kinds of love and affection, but no cats please!

Adoption Day

Volunteers Needed

1.  We are in!!!!! On Saturday, December 2nd before the big SEC Championship Football Game - We will be walking Peachtree Street in precise formation, like we have never done in the 5 years we have been in this parade!  We want only 100 walkers with their goldens or golden doodles to represent AGA (hopefully on TV too!)  It will be first 100 who get to walk in this great parade. Check our website under events for registration and more details.  Be on of the first 100 to sign up.  It's alway fun and we are going to have a dress rehearsal - Amy Weeks and Marianne Santinello are the Co-Captains.

2.  Need a seamstress for our Bireley, who attends many of our events.   Bireley lives in Lauren's garage - safe from the elements.  Occasionally, Bireley needs s ome clothing (he has several tie's and hats for occasions) but needs a few more collars so he doesn't get lost.

3.  We need someone t o put ribbons and a price tag on our 100 Websters for the Golden Gala  in April.  And to give them safe shelter for a week or two.

4.  We need some "Fetchers" for our auction items when
people donated an item - we have to go fetch it.

Auction items needed for Golden Gala in April.  This year we are planning to have on-line auctions so if you are unable to attend an event, you can still have a chance to bid on all the wonderful items people donate each year.  We rely on the income our auctions bring in so if you have:

A Cool Dog Item
A Vacation Property
Jewelry
Something Unique you think others would love to bin on

Please send us an email at [email protected].

Thank you!
