A Message from the Lower School Director

Dear Parents,

I'd like to extend my sincerest thanks to those who attended Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day last week. We are grateful so many could join us for a morning of prayer, activities, and time with loved ones. May God bless these special people and allow them to continue to work with us to guide our students in Faith, Reason, and Virtue.

To end the week, 4th-6th grade students attended the Children's Rosary Pilgrimage where students from around the archdiocese filled the Cathedral as they prayed the Holy Rosary. Saint Agnes School was well-represented as our junior high altar servers served for Archbishop Hebda during Adoration. We are grateful for opportunities such as these to open our students' hearts to the goodness of praying the Rosary.

Finally, please mark your calendars for parent-teacher conferences on October 26th and watch for an email on Wednesday, October 11th  with a link to SignUp Genius to schedule your conference(s).  As you are the students' first teachers, it is crucial parents and teachers communicate regularly. We look forward to seeing you that day!

In Christ,
Emily Minton

Rectory garden space is getting a new look!
Plans for creating an outdoor patio space that parish/priest/groups can use directly behind the rectory house are in the works. The large lawn space around the maple tree will remain the same.  A rectangular space that abuts the rectory will have the sod removed, flagstone and pavers added, plus sand and gravel for leveling/drainage. This is a call for extra materials that anyone might have lying about or would wish to donate for this project. Wish list items include  enough pavers and/or flagstone to fill an area with the dimensions of 15' x 35'. We also would like to build a trellis with a planter to provide a screen and a small garden space for the priests. The picture gives an idea  of what we hope to construct.  Thank you for your time and consideration of your request. God bless you. Please call or text  Therese Cho with questions or to make a donation at ( 651) 356-1676.

2017 Pequeño Tour comes to Saint Agnes
This past Friday, October 6, students in grades 7-12 enjoyed a special music and dance performance during convocation by student visitors from Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH). Founded in 1954 by Fr. William Wasson, NPH is an organization that runs 16 orphanages in nine Latin American countries. Our guests were teenage students from the NPH home in Cuernavaca, Mexico and are in the Twin Cities as part of the 2017 Upper Midwest Pequeño Tour. Some students played guitars, violins, and sang while the others danced in traditional regional costumes. The dancers even brought some students and teachers on stage to dance with them! After their performance they visited Spanish language classes before enjoying lunch with Spanish V students and moving on to another school for an afternoon performance. Visit the NPH USA website for more information about NPH and the 2017 Pequeno Tour.
