Advent Angels Toys for ECS Headstart
Our annual holiday toy drive to benefit low-income families served by Episcopal Community Service's Head Start programs
is underway
.
Look for the Advent Angels on the Hinde Hall porch and in the church narthex (entryway).
Let your light shine by taking a card -- or two, or three -- and supplying some Christmas joy for a preschool-aged boy or girl. Take a card for a girl or boy, ages 3, 4, or 5
and purchase a gift for that child. Each gift should be $10-$15 - if you'd like to spend more, take more cards! Return your unwrapped gifts to Hinde Hall by or on December 3.
We are the only church in the Diocese that supports ECS Head Start families with Christmas gifts.

Day of Service Sunday, December 3 after both services
Our annual Day of Service, is your chance to give back to our community in gratitude for all the blessings you've been given. After the 8:00 a.m. service join fellow parishioners in packing Blessings in a Bag, wrapping Advent Angel gifts and writing postcards to prisoners.
Those who stay after the 10:00 a.m. service have a few extra activities to choose from-- fixing a healthy lunch for our homeless neighbors across the bridge, delivering those lunches with our high school youth, and sprucing up our church grounds by planting flowers. For families, we'll have an art project for kids to decorate our Blessings in a Bag bags.

A Reading of Mark's Gospel December 6 - 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Join us as we begin the holy season of Advent by gathering to read the Gospel of Mark in one evening. Why? Because the church's new year begins on the first Sunday of Advent and focuses on this gospel, the very first one recorded.
So this year give yourself a gift! Leave the shopping frenzy behind and gather at the church for a chili supper and an incredible evening like no other. We want to make certain we have enough chili for everyone, so
please RSVP by calling the parish office at (619) 435-4561 or email [email protected].

Lessons & Carols Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. We will celebrate the Advent season with the Festival of Lessons and Carols, a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus inaugurating the Advent/Christmastide season.
The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus are told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music in a lovely service reminiscent of the annual King's College, Cambridge England service of Lessons and Carols. A reception follows with wassail and English shortbread. Please plan to join us and bring a friend.
