Racial Justice Task Force Community Forum Thursday
Let's end racial disparities in the justice system
I was proud to join many criminal justice reform advocates to support our Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors' establishment of the Racial Justice Task Force. The goal of the Task Force is to develop strategies to reduce racial disparities in our justice system.

The County is hosting a series of community forums to provide information about the Task Force's important work and gather vital input.

The Task Force, which is composed of community members and government representatives, stems from a 2015 request by the Contra Costa Racial Justice Coalition to examine trends and practices in our Justice System and implement changes to eliminate disparate treatment of minority populations.

Input from the community is vital. The Task Force benefits from hearing the community's concerns and suggestions about direction, focus and strategy.

Please join me and many others on November 16 for the community forum in Richmond. Let's work together to  create a more effective and equitable criminal justice system.

WHAT: County Racial Justice Task Force Community Forum

WHEN:  Thursday, November 16, 6 pm to 8 pm.

WHERE: DeJean Middle School, Multi-Purpose Room, 3400 Macdonald Avenue, Richmond

WHO: This is a community event and all are welcome.

ABOUT: In 2016, The Board of Supervisors established a 17-member Racial Justice Task Force to reduce racial disparities in our justice systems. The Task Force will share information about work to date and gather community input to guide future direction.
Sincerely,
John
