Spirit of Christmas Bazaar

The Spirit of Christmas Bazaar was very successful again this year. As of Sunday, November 12th the preliminary total was over $11,000. Some items will still be available for purchase at the church until Thanksgiving. 

Lefse was made at the church a couple of weeks before the bazaar. Wreaths were made at Al & Jan Doonan's the Sunday prior to the 
bazaar. Thank you Al & Jan for providing your warm garage on a cold a fternoon.

Winners of raffle items were: Shawl made by Ginny Larson-Nancy Stratton; Cutting Board made by Randy Evans-Adrian Olson; Rustic Bench made by Randy Stansfield-
Cheryl Barber; Wooden Bench made by Jeff Olson-Diane Boike; Les Kouba Print donated by Jim & Mary Ellen Stolle-Mary Rono; and Doll House donated by Arnie & Sylvia Graff with proceeds fro m this goi ng to the building fund.
 

Thank you to eve ryone who worked on the bazaar in any way. Being a part of this event is a great way to form friendships. Please consider being involved in the 2018 bazaar. There are jobs for everyone and you do not need to be "crafty."

The proceeds from the bazaar combined with proceeds from last spring's rummage sale will benefit many local causes and global

Reformation Sunday: Immanuel's Homecoming


In honor of the 500th anniversary of the reformation Immanuel held a special "homecoming" worship service in the Mayberry Auditorium on Sunday, October 29th. Approximately 300 people were present for the worship service which was followed by a German style meal in the high school commons.

The snow is falling, and it's that time of year! The holiday season is upon us and with it brings the
Sunday School Christmas Program!  SAVE THE DATES AND SPREAD THE WORD
Casting Call will be November 19th during Sunday School where we will hand out parts.
We will practice our parts during Sunday School on December 3rd and 10th
Dress rehearsal on December 16th. Show time December 17th at the 10:30 service.

Sunday School



Sunday School meets following Children's Time in the 10:30am worship service.

Youth Ministry

CREW


CREW is Immanuel's youth group for grades 7-12.  CREW meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. 

CREW met Wednesday, October 25th. The group learned hope through a video about 
Nick V ujicic, a man with no arms or legs. 

They also prepared a candy package to be sold at the bazaar. On Wednesday, November 8th CREW met at the Hallett Center for swimming and fellowship.

CREW will be serving the pie after the Thanksgiving worship service on November 22nd and will have their Christmas party on December 13th.

Help is needed to prepare meals for th e CREW nights. if you can help with this, please contact Sandy Davis. The rest of 2017 is covered but there are 2018 dates open.

Confirmation Classes

Bible
Confirmation class meets on the the first and third Wednesday of the month. Please contact  the church office at 218-546-6010 for more information.

These students are also encouraged to go to the CREW meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays.



Meal With A Mission

The October Meal With A Mission was held Sunday, October 15th. The proceeds from this meal benefited Cuyuna Lunch Bunch. Immanuel along with other churches and the hospital provides lunches for children during the summer.

The November Meal With a Mission on Sunday, November 19  will benefit REC (Residents Encountering Christ.)

Handbell Ministry

On Sunday, November 12, Judi Burson accompanied the bell choir on the piano playing "Now Thank We All Our God".  Thank you for rocking those keys Judi!
 
The vocal choir has begun practicing on Tuesday evenings preparing for the Dec. 10 performance with the bells.  If you are interested in singing with this choir, there is still time, so please come to the 6:30 practices on Tuesday evenings.  Call Judy Kirchoff with any questions at 218-820-2802.
 
Some of the Sunday School children have also been practicing "Away In A Manger" and will sing together with the bell choir and adult choir on Dec. 10.

Thanksgiving Praise and Pie
 
    
Mark your calendars  for Praise and Pie on Thanksgiving Eve  Wednesday, November 22nd . Worship will  at 6:45pm  followed by pie  in the fellowship hall.
Hanging of the Greens
 
    

Decorating of the church will take place on Saturday, November 25th at 9:00am with coffee and fellowship at 10:00am. Sunday, November 26th will be the Hanging of the Greens and First Sunday in Advent Worship at 10:30am. There will be only one service on this day.
Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen
 

One of the local missions that Immanuel supports is the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd. There are approximately 25 Immanuel members that serve the soup kitchen on the fourth Wednesday of the month.This group prepares the food, serves it and cleans up. Bob and Pat Neros are the coordinators.

The soup kitchen has been in Brainerd for 30 years but is now facing a financial crisis and needs to raise $20,000 by Thanksgiving. You can help by donating to this cause. Just write a check to Immanuel and put Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in the memo. 

There will be a fund raiser at Jack Pine Brewery in Baxter on November 15th from 5:00-8:00pm. $1.00 per pint will be donated to the Soup Kitchen. Pizza will be served by Papa Murphy's and any donations for pizza will also be given to Sharing Bread.
