Religious Education News
Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton

RE Mission
Our religious education program works
to create an accepting environment that empowers children and youth to explore their spirituality, celebrate diversity, and live our Unitarian Universalist values.
Family Ministry
We believe that families play a vital role in furthering this empowerment to explore and live our UU values. We are excited to support our families by offering ideas from the UUA's Tapestry of Faith program as well as graces and thought provoking questions related to the topics introduced during Sunday religious education classes. We hope you find this new initiative enjoyable and spiritually fulfilling for your whole family.
In RE Next Week
Our children and youth will enjoy a fun day.  We will be creating holiday decorations.

For the Week of November 19, 2017
A Table Grace:
For the hands that tilled,
for the hands that harvested,
for the hands that processed,
for the hands that transported,
for the hands that stocked,
for the hands that sold,
for the hands that bought,
for the hands that prepared,
for the hands that will hold,
for the hand that made the hands,
our hearts are forever grateful.
Amen.

A...means All who are returning, a reunion in Fall,
N...for Newcomers to our Fellowship, and hearty welcome all!

G...is Generosity, to share what we've been given,
I... for Integrity, may we bring it to our living.
V...is Very special, because of each one here. . .
I... we give thanks for Individuals, for each one is so dear.
N...stands for this Nation, and its challenges and strength
G...reminds us of our blessings and calls us to give Thanks.

Please consider utilizing these ideas to deepen and inspire your faith during the week.
Discussion Topic - During a meal discuss or to ponder alone, please share one thing you are grateful for this week.
A Ritual - Set aside a time every day for sharing gratitude. Meal time or bed time can be especially good choices. Simply light a chalice and give each person an opportunity to name what they are thankful for. In addition, consider setting aside a time once a week for a family gratitude circle, in which you express gratitude for one another.
Inspired by our MakerSpace Class - This Sunday, our MakerSpace class hosted a forum for all the RE classes about an upcoming vote.  On December 10, all RE classes will be voting to spend $300.  Their choices will be:
  1. Nature Up North
  2. Nursery Supplies/Resource for our RE program
  3. Feeding Hungry Refugees
  4. Evenly dividing the funds between all three areas

Please take time to chat with a child or youth about their  views on the choice they will be making on December 10 and look for videos in next week's enews to offer more details.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Carol Zimmerman at [email protected] or 315-386-2498.
