Greetings from Cambodia, dear readers! We're taking a break from our regular action-packed newsletter to bring you along on a journey. You are invited to follow me as I discover today's Cambodia and Vietnam by boat, cruise ship and, of course, tuk tuk (motorized rickshaw).

Meeting new people and understanding new places are important reasons to travel and if riding around a country in the back of a tuk tuk helps me do both then count me in!

Our kind and tireless tuk tuk professional, SomOn (in his Australian t-shirt), was designated driver for the day. This allowed fellow yacht broker and adventurer Karen Hughes and me to experience Phnom Penh with gusto (I think you know what I mean).

Throwing off stereotypes is another important reason to travel. When I was invited on this fam trip (familiarization trip) to cruise down the Mekong River on the beautiful and chic AQUA MEKONG, I jumped at the chance  to have this unusual and exotic adventure on this fabulous luxury yacht and to learn more about this part of Asia.

Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy visits Cambodia in November 1967
In a beautiful bit of kismet I discovered that the late-Jacqueline Kennedy realized her lifelong dream of visiting Angkor Wat in November 1967 - 50 years ago this month! Now,  I don't think of myself as having much in common with the former First Lady except my big sunglasses, but I do understand what drew her to this awe-inspiring country.

On a bittersweet note, we o bserved Veteran's Day in Cambodia. It reminds me of the many sacrifices by many people that have brought us to today's modern Cambodia and Vietnam.  It also reminds me of what a small world we've become, connected by technology, by transportation and by our hopes and dreams.

Over these next weeks in Cambodia and Vietnam, I'd like to share my journey with you. I'll be visiting popular and less-visited sites to see  temples, gardens, markets, art, agriculture, lakes, boats and, of course, our luxurious cruise down the Mekong River on the AQU A MEKONG .

We can't wait to take this journey between Cambodia and Vietnam and will bring you along with frequent posts to our blog and social media as we go. The first Cambodia and Vietnam journey blog post is HERE.
