  Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

Because of Your Generosity
You made the difference, helping people with disabilities have equal opportunities in 2017.

  • Because of you, over 250 families had questions answered by the experts regarding the Family Care/IRIS transition.
  • Because of you, over 300 people with disabilities danced the afternoon away, sharing time with friends.
  • Because of you, parents of school-aged children with developmental disabilities throughout Dane County are receiving information and presentations about transitioning out of the school system.  With over 5 district presentations to date you have helped us reach almost 100 parents.
  • Because of you, advocacy information is at the fingertips of hundreds of families throughout Dane County.
  • Because of you, families, guardians and people with disabilities are connecting and finding support.
Your gift to The Arc Dane County makes all of this, and more, possible.  Let's keep working together so that even more children and adults with developmental disabilities have the same opportunities, choices, rights, and respect due all people in our community.

Wisconsin Advocacy
Employment First Bill:
The Arc Wisconsin has led a coalition of groups that are working to improve employment policies for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This month Representative James Edming (R); Jimmy Anderson (D) and Senator Tom Tiffany (R) introduced a bi-partisan employment bill with 43 legislator co-sponsors. This bill also has the support of disability advocacy organizations and employment service providers (sheltered workshops). Tell your legislator to support the Employment First bill! Find more information here.

Supported Decision-Making Bill:
The Arc Wisconsin is working closely with BPDD, DRW, and GWAAR (aging groups) to create an alternative to guardianship in Wisconsin that lets older adults and people with disabilities retain control over major decisions in their life, while also asking for support when necessary. This is an exciting development! Go here to learn more and ask your own legislator to support this bill!
Thank You For Your Support
