"Hope"

Hope is the title of the stained glass to the right of the pulpit in the sanctuary.  The image is based on a painting by Edward Burne-Jones who painted it after the death of a dear friend.  It is also one of a triad of paintings on the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and charity.  What about Burne-Jones' painting is hopeful?  Why do you think it was chosen to be in our sanctuary?

Gracious God, sometimes we feel chained by the difficulties of our lives.  Help us to set our gaze on you and to remember that you are a God who keeps your promises.  Amen.
