Our Vision Statement
Old North Church is an inclusive Christian Community called to bring to life God's love and grace by sharing the gospel for this time and place; extending the hospitality Christ showed; embodying God's love and compassion to those in need; and growing together in our understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit at work in our midst.
Children's Church News

This Sunday, December 3rd, children will go directly to the Parish Hall, and together we will be preparing for the Pancake Breakfast and Advent Workshop.
All are invited to join us for breakfast and stay for the Advent activities. Although the deadline for Gingerbread Nativity scenes has passed there will be other small projects and take home ideas for all.

Remaining classes for the fall months are:  December 10 & 17.  Here is the updated Sign up Genius for Children's Church class leaders. I am asking for 3 adult volunteers each week: pre-k to 1st grade, 2nd and 3rd grade, 4th - 6th grade. All materials and plan will be prepared in advance.   Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Karen ([email protected])

Here is a link to our registration form for both Children's Church and the Infant/Toddler Room.

Raymond Gonzalez Concert

Sunday December 10 at 7pm

On Sunday evening, December 10, 2017, at 7pm at Old North Church in Marblehead, AcousticGuitar Master, Singer, Song-writer, and Composer Raymond Gonzalez, will present a solo concert featuring a diverse collection of original songs, holiday music, and solo guitar pieces from Gonzalez's most recent CD release, entitled "Unknown Mariner." This concert doubles as a CD release celebration, in that autographed copies of his "Unknown Mariner" recording will be available for purchase at the concert. Raymond Gonzalez's concert is free and open to the public - and appropriate for the entire family - though a suggested donation of $20 per person will be collected at the door with proceeds to benefit the artist as well as Old North Church.

Messiah Sing

Wednesday, Dec 13 at 7:30pm

Old North Church will host a MESSIAH SING on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:30pm, to benefit the victims of Hurricane Maria which devastated Puerto Rico. We will be singing the Christmas Portion only with the addition of the Hallelujah Chorus. There will be a small chamber orchestra, with harpsichord and all solos will be sung by our extraordinary Old North soloists. Any professional fees (all greatly reduced or donated) associated with the project will be sponsored by the Music Patrons Fund so that 100% of the proceeds can go to the victims. There will be no rehearsal - just a sing through! Please bring your own score; a limited number will be available to borrow at 7pm prior to the performance. If you'd like to help with a simple reception following the event, please contact Nan Haskell at [email protected]. Please help spread the word - ALL singers and listeners are welcome!

ONC Family Ski Trip
For the third year in a row, Mark Roberge and others are organizing an ONC family ski trip. This year the trip will be the weekend of 1/19 to 1/21. Last year about 40 people headed up to the White Mountains together. Skiing experience is not required. We had many first time skiers. We also had a number of people that did not ski but snow shoed, hiked, ice skated, read a book in the ski lodge, and joined the group for dinner and hot chocolate. We hope to see even more people this year. We have rooms blocked at Whitney's Inn in Jackson, NH. Simply mention that you are with Old North Church in Marblehead and you will get a 10% discount. The rooms are on hold until 12/15. Let Mark [email protected] know if you can make it so they can begin organizing the weekend plans.  This trip is meant to be highly inclusive, rather than exclusive. Everyone is invited~~it will be fun!

OWL Program for 7th-9th Graders

Beginning  January 7th at the UU Church

This year we are partnering with the UU Church in offering Our Whole Lives (OWL) for 7-9 graders.   We are encouraging especially families of our 9th graders to consider going through the program, which consists of 14 sessions through May, on Sundays from 4-6.  The Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education helps youth gain the knowledge, life principles and skills they need to express their sexuality in life-enhancing ways. It puts sexuality into the context of values and personal responsibility, helping them manage social pressure and advocate for equality.  It provides an opportunity to bring values and integrity to the real-life issues our young people face daily. The facilitators are from Old North and UUM.  There is a mandatory orientation meeting for parents and guardians of those who will participate on December 9th at 4pm at the UUM church to go over in detail the material.   If you cannot make that, one of the facilitators will meet with you individually.   For more comprehensive information, please visit:

Volunteer Skills Survey
As part of our visioning and leadership restructuring, we are working on developing a database on how you might like to use your gifts, skills, interests and passions to serve our church.

We have developed a Volunteer Skills Survey for you to fill out to let us know what are  your interests and skills.  Please, take a moment to download the form here, fill it out, and email it back to [email protected], drop it off in the basket in the narthex, or mail it to the church office at 8 Stacey Street.  Please note that the form is two pages.

We would love to hear from as many people as possible as soon as possible!
Threshold Singers
Threshold Singers is a volunteer hospice singing group founded by Joan Hollister a few years ago. Its mission is to provide comfort through song to those who face illness and dying. They honor the ancient tradition of singing at the bedside to convey kindness, compassion and comfort through harmony and presence at the end of life. Their repertoire includes songs and chants from a variety of cultures and traditions, ranging from the scared to the secular, including old familiar songs and hymns. All of the singers have been through hospice orientation and are familiar and comfortable with hospice philosophy of care, appropriate behavior and confidentiality. The Threshold Singers are available to sing in small ensembles at the bedside of the dying in private homes, hospitals, nursing homes and hospice facilities. For more information on how to receive their free services, please contact Joan Hollister at 617.968.6574 or www.thresholdsingers.com
Mindfulness Meditation Class
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION: "We Only Have Moments to Live" returns to ONC on Thursday and Saturday mornings beginning 11/30/17 and 12/2/17. This introductory class is a powerful and practical way of releasing old conditioned patterns of thinking and behaving that limit relationships, problem solving and growth. "Accessing Inner Wisdom for Growth & Healing" for experienced students develops the capacity for inner dialogue for problem solving, interconnection and to manifest our unique spiritual purpose. Registration material is available by clicking here. Contact Dr. Stephanie Green (781-710-9744 or [email protected]) to register or for information.
We Need Contact Info Updates!
