PRESIDENT'S CORNER

"Tis the season to remember
All the faces and the places that were home." *

I hope you've found a home at HLAA Colorado Springs. A place where you know your hearing loss is understood. Somewhere you find acceptance instead of judgment when you've had trouble hearing or understanding conversations. A source for education and information about hearing loss that can help you live better with it. Models for advocating to improve hearing access on a local and national scale. There is much to be gained by joining forces with those who share your challenges.
I'd like to invite all of you who have enjoyed our company over the years to join us for our annual Christmas party. See details elsewhere in this newsletter. It will be a great opportunity to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends, all of whom are fellow travelers on the hearing loss journey!
"Tis the season to remember
That we're never far from home." *

Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year Everyone!

The Independence Center's Yoga for All class, instructed by Uprise Yoga, was well attended, and the class was held in the looped room, allowing those with hearing loss to have the instructions delivered by direct audio input into their hearing aids, or headsets.  P ictured here are  Ann, Vickie, and Patricia Yeage r, CEO of The Independence Center, going into our Pelican Position.  We all were balancing with help  from each other - which is good, if you all stay balanced; but not so good if one loses their  balance - it's like a chain reaction of. "all fall down."    Not pictured was us in the Frog Position.  Without revealing who, one of us found it difficult to move the next day.  Uprise Yoga states that this is the "first of many Yoga for All classes in the books for incorporating new Bluetooth technology that allows folks who are deaf or hard of hearing to practice yoga. Stay tuned for more opportunities to practice with us!"
