PASTOR'S CORNER

Merry Christmas!

The joy and the promises of Christmas are not meant to be contained. On the very first Christmas the songs of the angels were shared with shepherds in the fields outside of Bethlehem.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."   (Luke 2:8-14)

After the shepherds heard the news and the songs they went into Bethlehem to see the child and then told everyone they saw the wonder of the event that just occurred.  We are entering one of the greatest times of the year.  The Christmas tree went up last weekend in the entryway and the large one will be put up in the sanctuary for this weekend's services.  I always remind the kids at chapel, especially the real little ones, that Jesus shares His birthday with us (we try to make it a big deal when they celebrate a birthday).  He even shares His Kingdom, His grace and also every eternal blessing.

Again this year we are going to throw a Christmas party for all of the kids at Joshua House.  This party will be at Noon on Sunday December 17th.  We want to share with them the joy of Jesus coming into this world. We will have lunch for these young people who have been removed from their homes for various reasons and are living at Joshua House for a season of their lives.  Leanne Ferguson will lead the children from Sunday School and put on a Christmas program.  We are also going to bless them with presents.  If you would like to help, there is a Christmas Angel tree in the Narthex.  This is a  special Christmas ministry.  Our School itself is one way that we share the promise and joy of Jesus with the next generation.

Merry Christmas,
Pastor Dave
